Searching on Mobilus
From the homepage click on the magnifying glass icon to go to the search page. It is not necessary to be logged into your subscription login before searching.
Enter your search term on the top field and hit enter to complete your search. Suggested terms will populate as your type.
When entering text in the fiels you can use the following tips.
Proximity Operators are built into the search function. For multi-word searches, it will return the search terms with the words close together on top.
Stemming is applied to similar terms, so car and cars would be bucketed together as would auto, autos, and automobile.
Phrase Searching
Place double quotes around whole phrases to search for that exact phrase as a whole and not the individual words.
Wildcards are available. You can use an * (asterisk) after the term.
For example, entering elec* would search for terms that start with elec and have any other letters afterwards.
Use the filters to narrow your search results. As you click on the filter the results will update immediately. Only some filters are highlighted below.
- Only
- New content – items published in the last 90 days
- My Subscription – lists items available under your subscription only
- Content Types
- Technical Papers – papers published either as part of events or stand alone
- Journal articles – articles published in one of our journals.
- Technical standards, material specifications, recommended practices, information reports, specifications, characteristics, best practices, supplements – all types of standards best to select all if looking for a standard
- Books, references – types of books best to select both if searching for a book
- Research report – Edge research reports
- Published – date range of when the item was published. By default it shows a five year range.
- Topics – topics sorted by number of items that match the topic. You can select multiple topics to narrow down your search
- Authors – a list of authors sorted by the number of items they are connected to.
- Affiliations – organizations / companies the authors are connected to
