This SAE Standard covers complete general and dimensional specifications for flareless type of hydraulic tube fittings. These fittings are intended for general application in hydraulic systems on industrial equipment and commercial products. These fittings are capable of providing leakproof, full flow connections in hydraulic systems operating at working pressures as specified in Table 1. For any application, it is recommended that sufficient testing be conducted and reviewed by both the user and fitting manufacturer to assure that performance levels will be safe and satisfactory. Formerly, SAE J514 was organized as a single document with ten clauses, which included six sections. This revision of SAE J514 has been organized into three sections as follows: Part 1: 37-degree flared fittings Part 2: Flareless (bite type) fittings Part 3: NPTF pipe fittings and pipe unions It is important to note that this and all SAE J-documents are intended for ground vehicle use only and not intended for aerospace applications.
This part of SAE J514 covers general and dimensional specifications for 37 degree flared tube fittings. Also included are 37 degree flared fittings with NPTF pipe threads in Appendix B. These fittings are intended for general application in hydraulic systems on industrial equipment and commercial products. These fittings are capable of providing leak-proof, full flow connections in hydraulic systems operating at working pressures as specified in Table 6. Since many factors influence the pressure at which a hydraulic system will or will not perform satisfactorily, the values shown in Table 6 should not be construed as a guaranteed minimum. This part of SAE J514 covers general and dimensional specifications for NPTF pipe adapters and 30 degree NPSM adapter unions. These fittings are intended for general application in hydraulic systems on industrial equipment and commercial products. These fittings are capable of providing leak-proof, full-flow connections in hydraulic systems operating at working pressures as specified in Table 6. Since many factors influence the pressure at which a hydraulic system will or will not perform satisfactorily, the values shown in Table 6 should not be construed as a guaranteed minimum. This part of SAE J1926 specifies dimensions, performance requirements, and test procedures for adjustable and nonadjustable light-duty (L series) stud ends with ASME B1.1 threads for use in fluid power and general applications and the O-rings used with them. Stud ends in accordance with this part of SAE J1926 may be used at working pressures up to 35 MPa for nonadjustable and adjustable stud ends. The permissible working pressure depends upon materials, design, working conditions, application, etc. For threaded ports and stud end specified in new designs for hydraulic fluid power applications, only ISO 6149 shall be used. Threaded ports and stud ends in accordance with ISO 1179, ISO 9974, and ISO 11926 shall not be used for new design in hydraulic fluid power applications. Conformance to the dimensional information does not guarantee rated performance. Each manufacturer shall perform testing according to the specification contained in this document to ensure that components made to this document comply with the performance rating. Appendices A and B of this document are informative.

This specification covers the design requirements and test procedures for separable beam seal fittings which include end fittings (see 2.4.2), connectors (see 2.4.3), and boss fittings for use in aerospace fluid systems. Design requirements are for Class 5000 and 8000 in titanium, and corrosion resistant steel (CRES). Definition of fittings and related terms are defined in 2.4.

This SAE Recommended Practice applies to electrically powered hydraulic or mechanically operated platform devices which permit a person seated in a manual or powered wheelchair to enter or exit a personally licensed vehicle. The minimum performance and durability requirements are specified for satisfactory installation of wheelchair lifting devices in a personally licensed vehicle to be used by a person seated in a wheelchair to be lifted from the ground plane to the vehicle floor level in a reliable and safe manner.
