- The SAE Standard applies to self-propelled, driver-operated sweepers and scrubbers as defined in SAE J2130.
- Content
- Many sweeper and scrubber machines are purpose designed and operate on paved and road surfaces amongst other machines and road users. In the construction of such machines, the location of the driver’s cab with regard to the steered road wheels and layout of the sweeping and collection mechanisms may inhibit the fitment of a mechanical linkage for the steering function. In these circumstances, machines may be constructed with a hydraulic servo-assisted steering system where the driver’s steering wheel operates a control unit that meters fluid to a steering actuator linked to the steered road wheels. This SAE Standard proposes a set of performance requirements for a single-circuit hydraulic servo-assisted steering system as would be applied to machines described in SAE J2130.
