Content: This specification covers a low-alloy steel in the form of welding wire. Type 2 – Copper Coated wire was removed from this document (see 8.5).

Rationale

Content: AMS6458J results from a Five Year Review and update of this specification that aligns composition requirements with other steel weld wire specs (3.1) and radiographic inspection standards with those used in industry (4.3.1), and fabrication (3.4) weldability (3.5.1) and winding (3.5.3) are updated with standard words. Type 2 copper coated wire was removed from this document.
