- AMS5893D is the result of a Five-Year Review and update of the specification. The revision updates the Title to match the Scope, adds finish requirements for larger bars (see 3.3.1.1.1), prohibits bar cut from plate (see 3.3.1.2 and 4.4.3), updates grain size requirements (see 3.5.1.1.2), adds strain rate requirements for tensile tests (see 3.5.1.2.1.1), limits alternative hardness test methods (see 3.5.1.2.2), prohibits unauthorized exceptions (see 4.4.2, 5.2.1, and 8.7), and addresses additional requirements for forging stock (see 4.4.4 and 8.8).
