- This specification covers a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of sheet and strip 0.0015 to 0.100 inch (0.038 to 2.54 mm) in nominal thickness in the solution heat-treated and cold-rolled condition.

- AMS5529L is the result of a Five-Year Review and update of the specification. The revision updates composition reporting (see 3.1.1), adds strain rate controls during tensile testing (see 3.3.1.1.1 and 3.3.2.1.1), adds pyrometry to response to heat treatment (see 3.3.2), modifies hardness guidance (see 8.3), and updates the exceptions requirements (see 3.3.3, 4.4.1, and 8.6).
