This SAE Standard establishes the test procedure, environment, and instrumentation for determining the sound levels of snowmobiles in the stationary test mode. This test method is intended to provide an accurate measurement of exhaust and other engine noise and may be used to evaluate new and in-use snowmobiles to determine compliance with noise control regulations. Sound level measurements obtained with this test method are not intended as an engineering determination of overall machine noise. For this purpose, the use of SAE J192 is recommended.

In this process the DO is responsible for ensuring the continuous updating of design and airworthiness data to the PO, whilst the PO is responsible for assurance that the manufactured article conforms to approved design and airworthiness data. The PO is responsible to provide airworthiness release documentation.

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) provides a description of a screening method for use in the field for verifying an AMS 1428 anti-icing fluid is above its minimum low shear viscosity as published with holdover time guidelines. The test will determine if the fluid is (a) satisfactory, (b) unsatisfactory, or (c) borderline needing more advanced viscometry testing. Other field tests may be required to determine if an anti-icing fluid is useable, such as refractive index, appearance or other tests as may be recommended by the fluid manufacturer.

This SAE Recommended Practice provides uniform laboratory procedures for biaxial fatigue testing of wheels intended for normal highway use and temporary use on passenger car vehicles and light trucks and minimum cycle requirement for ferrous wheels for ballasted passenger car applications. The appendices provide scalable load files that are applicable to ballasted passenger cars and ballasted light trucks. A load file for unballasted passenger cars will be added to this document.

This document contains procedures for performance testing of electrical terminals, connectors, and components for coaxial-style cable with an outside cable diameter of 3.6 mm and smaller. These are often called “mini coax connector systems.” This specification applies to coaxial cable connection systems that operate at frequencies from DC to 9 GHz and are intended for road vehicles. The characteristic impedance of the mini coax connection system described here is 50 Ω, however nothing excludes the use of these connectors in systems with a different characteristic impedance. This specification applies only to connection systems using coaxial cable.

This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) provides engineering methods that can be applied to monitoring aircraft noise and operations in the vicinity of airports using either attended or unattended monitoring systems, as well as methods for validation of measurement results from permanent systems. Part 1 provides guidance on the components, installation and administration of permanent systems and guidance on analysis of data collected from temporary monitoring of aircraft noise. A separate document, Part 2, describes both system screening tests and detailed test methods for validating the data reported by permanently installed systems. This SAE Information Report provides a list of those SAE steels which, because of decreased usage, have been deleted from the standard SAE Handbook listings. Included are alloy steels from SAE J778 deleted since 1936, carbon steels from SAE J118 deleted since 1952, and all EX-steels deleted from SAE J1081. Information concerning SAE steels prior to these dates may be obtained from the SAE office on request. With the issuance of this report, SAE J778, Formerly Standard SAE Alloy Steels, and SAE J118, Formerly Standard SAE Carbon Steels, will be retired since they are now combined in SAE J1249. In the future, new assignments to SAE J1081, Chemical Compositions of SAE Experimental Steels, will be given “PS” (Potential Standard) numbers rather than “EX” numbers. The steels listed in Tables 1 and 2 are no longer considered as standard steels. Producers should be contacted concerning availability.
