This supplement forms a part of SAE Aerospace Specification AS85421. It shall be used to identify fitting standards citing this procurement specification.
This SAE Standard establishes the test procedure, environment, and instrumentation for determining the sound levels of snowmobiles in the stationary test mode. This test method is intended to provide an accurate measurement of exhaust and other engine noise and may be used to evaluate new and in-use snowmobiles to determine compliance with noise control regulations. Sound level measurements obtained with this test method are not intended as an engineering determination of overall machine noise. For this purpose, the use of SAE J192 is recommended.
This specification covers a corrosion and heat-resistant alloy in the form of sheet, strip, and plate 2.00 inch (50.8 mm) and under in thickness (see 8.4).
SCOPE IS UNAVAILABLE.
This document applies to laser proponents involved with the use of laser systems outdoors. It may be used in conjunction with AS4970, ARP5535, ARP5572, and the ANSI Z136 series of laser safety standards.
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) specifies the dimensions, tolerances and size codes (dash numbers) for O-rings with a larger cross-section than those to AS568, for use in glands per MIL-G-5514 where squeeze at low temperature is often insufficient to provide a leak-tight seal.
SCOPE IS UNAVAILABLE
This specification covers a fluorocarbon (FKM) rubber in the form of O-rings, compression seals, O-ring cord, and molded-in-place gaskets for aeronautical and aerospace applications. For sheet, strip, tubing, extrusions, and molded shapes use the AMS3353 specification which is intended for that use.
This specification covers a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resin filled with 10% mineral and 2.5% molybdenum disulfide in the form of extruded or molded rods or tubes which are sintered after molding or, in the case of extrusions, sintered during the extrusion process.
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) covers any protective system that serves the stated purpose.
This SAE Recommended Practice is intended to establish uniform procedures for developing specifications for automotive thermoplastics. It is intended for use by automotive companies and their suppliers of molded and/ or fabricated parts from thermoplastic materials.
This specification covers a high strength, corrosion and heat-resistant cobalt-nickel-chromium alloy in the form of bars (see 8.4).
This SAE Standard provides a table of textual messages meeting the requirements for expressing “Radio Data Systems” (RDS) phrases commonly used in the ITS industry. They can be used both over the RDS subcarrier transmission media as part of a 37-bit long “Group 8a message” as well as being used to provide a common content list of phrases used in a wide number of other media and applications. This document SHALL define the normative index values to be used, extending the CEN established list to provide phrases needed by US practitioners. This standard provides non-normative textual phrases which MAY be used by implementers to ensure intelligible results. This document SHALL follow the formats and rules established in SAE J2540 in the expressions, manipulations, and use of such tables. It should be pointed out that within the rules established by this document a variety of final table are all considered “compliant” with the document, and may vary as fits the needs of implementers.
This ARP defines a recommended placard for readily identifying equipment with aircraft phosphate ester fluid to be used in the aircraft hydraulic systems to assure compatibility between the internal seals/materials and the system fluid. A definition is provided for a durable type and semipermanently attached placard with prescribed text for the permissible fluid are included in the document.
This specification covers a premium aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of bars, forgings, mechanical tubing, and forging stock.
This specification covers one weight and type of weave of aramid cloth.
This specification covers bearings of a leaded bronze cast on one or both faces of a steel backing with a layer of babbitt metal cast on the leaded bronze.
SAE J1939-13 specifies the diagnostic connectors used for off-board connection to a vehicle’s SAE J1939 communication links. The defined diagnostic connectors support connection to the twisted shielded pair media (refer to SAE J1939-11), the unshielded twisted pair (refer to SAE J1939-15), the twisted pair (refer to SAE J1939-14), and the twisted unshielded quad media (refer to ISO 11783-2).
This specification covers the specific requirements for 5052 aluminum alloy plate and sheet; the general requirements are covered in AMS-QQ-A-250.
This Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) provides: Recommended methods for cleaning sample bottles, when used, and the solvents to be applied and how these solvents should be prepared. Recommendations for three measuring methods for determining the level of solid particle contamination of hydraulic fluids used in aerospace hydraulics. Recommendations for the selection of the sampling point, sampling method, and the sampling frequency.
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) discusses characteristics of data communications for the Joint Architecture for Unmanned Systems (JAUS). This document provides guidance on the aspects of transport media, unmanned systems and the characteristics of JAUS itself that are relevant to the definition of a JAUS transport specification.
This coding system is intended to provide a convenient means of identifying the various tube, pipe, hydraulic hose type, and hose fittings not intended for use in aircraft and of transmitting technical or engineering information relating to them wherever drawings or other pictorial media may not be readily available. The code has been kept flexible to permit expansion to cover new fitting categories or styles and, if the need develops, the inclusion of additional materials. The system is also compatible with automatic data processing equipment. It is not intended that this code should supersede established systems or means of identification. Therefore, it should be the prerogative of the user to apply the code which best satisfies his requirements.
This SAE Recommended Practice applies to all commercial, self-propelled, or towed motor vehicles which transport property or passengers in interstate commerce in which the gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating exceeds 4550 kg (10 000 lb).
This specification covers a high-temperature, electrical grade, polyimide resin adhesive in the form of film or paste.
This specification covers a corrosion and heat-resistant steel in the form of bars, wire, forgings, mechanical tubing, flash welded rings, and stock for forging or flash welded rings.
