Sound level measurements obtained with this test method are not intended as an engineering determination of overall machine noise. For this purpose, the use of SAE J192 is recommended.

This SAE Recommended Practice (RP) establishes uniform powered vehicle-level test procedure for forward collision warning (FCW) and automatic emergency braking (AEB) used in trucks and buses greater than 10000 pounds (4535 kg) GVWR equipped with pneumatic brake systems for detecting, warning, and avoiding potential collisions. This RP does not apply to electric powered vehicles, trailers, dollies, etc., and does not intend to exclude any particular system or sensor technology. These FCW/AEB systems utilize various methodologies to identify, track, and communicate data/information to the operator and vehicle systems to warn, intervene, and/or mitigate in the momentary longitudinal control of the vehicle. SAE J1698-2 - Event Data Recorder - Retrieval Tool Protocol: Utilizes existing industry standards to identify a common physical interface and define the protocols necessary to retrieve records stored by light duty vehicle Event Data Recorders (EDRs). SAE J1698-3 - Event Data Recorder - Compliance Assessment: Defines procedures that may be used to validate that relevant EDR output records conform with the reporting requirements specified in Part 563, Table 1 during the course of FMVSS-208, FMVSS-214, and other applicable vehicle level crash testing.

There is no ISO standard equivalent to this SAE Standard. This SAE Standard identifies and defines the most commonly used terms for piston ring-groove characteristics, specifies dimensioning for groove widths, and demonstrates the methodology for calculation of piston groove root diameter. The requirements of this document apply to pistons and rings of reciprocating internal combustion engines and compressors working under analogous conditions, up to and including 200 mm diameter and 4.5 mm width for compression rings and 8.0 mm width for oil rings. The specifications in this document assume that components are measured at an ambient temperature of 20 °C (68 °F). Tolerances specified in this document represent practical functional limits and do not imply process capabilities.

Although not the primary mandate of the G-12 Aircraft Ground Deicing Committee, this document also provides descriptions of suggested test methods for evaluating aircraft surface coatings with respect to durability, hardness, weathering, aerodynamic drag, ice adhesion, ice accumulation, contact angle, and thermal conductivity. These additional tests can provide informational data for characterizing the coatings and may be useful to operators when evaluating the coatings.

This standard describes a test method for evaluating the susceptibility of uncoated cold rolled and hot rolled Ultra High Strength Steels (UHSS) to hydrogen embrittlement. The thickness range of materials that can be evaluated is limited by the ability to bend and strain the material to the specified stress level in this specification. Hydrogen embrittlement can occur with any steel with a tensile strength greater than or equal to 980 MPa. Some steel microstructures, especially those with retained austenite, may be susceptible at lower tensile strengths under certain conditions. The presence of available hydrogen, combined with high stress levels in a part manufactured from high strength steel, are necessary precursors for hydrogen embrittlement. Due to the specific conditions that need to be present for hydrogen embrittlement to occur, cracking in this test does not indicate that parts made from that material would crack in an automotive environment. This SAE Standard describes head position contours and procedures for locating the contours in a vehicle. Head position contours are useful in establishing accommodation requirements for head space and are required for several measures defined in SAE J1100. Separate contours are defined depending on occupant seat location and the desired percentage (95 and 99) of occupant accommodation. This document is primarily focused on application to Class A vehicles (see SAE J1100), which include most personal-use vehicles (passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, pick-up trucks). A procedure for use in Class B vehicles can be found in Appendix B.
