This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) sets forth design and operational recommendations concerning the human factors/crew interface considerations and criteria for vertical situation awareness displays. This is the first of two recommended practice documents that will address vertical situation awareness displays (VSAD). This document will focus on the performance/planning types of display (e.g., the map display) and will be limited to providing recommendations concerning human factored crew interfaces and will not address architecture issues. This document focuses on two types of VSAD displays: a coplanar implementation of a profile display (side projection) and a conventional horizontal map display; and a 3D map display (geometric projection). It is intended for head down display applications. However, other formats or presentation methods, such as HUDs, HMDs and 3D audio presentations may become more feasible in the future. Even though the relationship of the vertical

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) documents a common understanding of terms, compliance issues, and occupant injury criteria to facilitate the design and certification of oblique facing passenger seat installations specific to Part 25 aircraft. The applicability of the criteria listed in this current release is limited to seats with an occupant facing direction greater than 18° and no greater than 45° relative to the aircraft longitudinal axis. Seats installed at angles greater than 30° relative to the aircraft longitudinal axis must have an energy absorbing rest or shoulder harness and must satisfy the criteria listed in Table 2. Later revisions are intended to provide criteria for other facing directions. Performance criteria for forward and aft facing seats are provided in AS8049 and for side facing seats in AS8049/1. This document contains the same content as superseded ARP6316 with additional information included to align this Aerospace Standard with AS8049/1 regarding the use of

This slash sheet specifies the operational parameters and characteristics of a particular implementation of the SAE Linear, Token Passing Bus (LTPB) Interface Unit. This slash sheet defines the following: a The physical media interface: This slash sheet specifies the characteristics of the optical interface to the physical bus media. b The minimum and maximum timing requirements for operation of this implementation of the LTPB. c The data coding used to encode and decode the data for transmission. d The default values to be loaded into the timers of the LTPB interface at power-up prior to intervention by the host processor.

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) provides various graphical displays of atmospheric variables related to aircraft icing conditions in natural clouds. It is intended as a review of recent developments on the subject, and for stimulating thought on novel ways to arrange and use the available data. Included in this Report is FAR 25 (JAR 25) Appendix C, the established Aircraft Icing Atmospheric Characterization used for engineering design, development, testing and certification of civilian aircraft to fly in aircraft icing conditions.

The recommendations of this document apply to such aircraft as are able to perform both normal angle and steep IMC approaches, the latter being defined as those approaches having a final approach segment angle greater than 4°. Such aircraft can include both conventional and STOL fixed-wing aircraft, commercial air transport and/or utility and normal category helicopters, compound helicopters and powered lift vehicles (tiltrotors, tiltfans, tiltwings, etc.).

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) describes the general operating principles of demand oxygen equipment, including variant types such as diluter-demand and pressure breathing equipment. The sources of oxygen supply that can be used in connection with a demand oxygen mask are in principle the same as those used for other oxygen dispensing devices. Except for mention of a few features specifically related to demand equipment, this document does not discuss oxygen sources in detail and the reader is advised to consult other applicable documents that describe the operation of oxygen sources for additional information.
