This SAE Standard establishes the test procedure, environment, and instrumentation for determining the sound levels of snowmobiles in the stationary test mode. This test method is intended to provide an accurate measurement of exhaust and other engine noise and may be used to evaluate new and in-use snowmobiles to determine compliance with noise control regulations. Sound level measurements obtained with this test method are not intended as an engineering determination of overall machine noise. For this purpose, the use of SAE J192 is recommended.
This document is a result of the desire for interoperability of modules on a Pi-Bus. This standard is a stand alone document that used the Very High Speed Integrated Circuit (VHSIC) Phase 2, Interoperability Standard Pi-Bus Specification 2.2, as a starting point.
This specification covers a nitrile (NBR) rubber in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, extrusions, and molded shapes.
This specification covers a titanium alloy in the form of bars and forgings up through 10.000 inches (254.00. mm), inclusive, in diameter or least distance between parallel sides with a maximum cross-sectional area of 79.0 in2 (506.45 cm2) and forging stock of any size (see 8.7).
This recommended practice covers the requirements and qualification tests for two types of flexible all-metal hose assemblies intended for hydraulic use on missile and rocket applications at rated pressures of 4000 psi. Type I -65° to +650 °F service temperature range Type II -65° to +1000 °F service temperature range
This specification covers a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resin filled with 15% graphite in the form of extruded or molded rods or tubes which are sintered after molding or, in the case of extrusions, sintered during the extrusion process.
This specification covers a silicone (MQ/VMQ) elastomer that can be used to manufacture product in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, extrusions, and molded shapes. This specification should not be used for molded rings, compression seals, O-ring cord, and molded in place gaskets for aeronautical and aerospace applications without complete consideration of the end use prior to the selection of this material.
This specification establishes the requirements and procedures for producing a hard, wear resistant ion nitrided surface on steel parts.
This SAE Recommended Practice describes two-dimensional, 95th percentile truck driver, side view, seated shin-knee contours for both the accelerator operating leg and the clutch operating leg for horizontally adjustable seats (see Figure 1). There is one contour for the clutch shin-knee and one contour for the accelerator shin-knee. There are three locating equations for each curve to accommodate male-to-female ratios of 50:50, 75:25, and 90:10 to 95:5.
This SAE Standard was developed to provide a method for indicating the direction of engine rotation and numbering of engine cylinders. The document is intended for use in designing new engines to eliminate the differences which presently exist in industry.
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) discusses the desired characteristics of night vision goggle (NVG) filters that can be used with incandescent, electroluminescent (EL) and light emitting diode (LED) light sources to achieve NVG compatible lighting of aerospace crew stations. This document also discusses the parameters that need to be considered when selecting a night vision goggle/daylight viewing (NVG/DV) filter for proper contrast enhancement to achieve readability in daylight. The recommendations set forth in this document are to aid in the design of NVG compatible lighting that will meet the requirements of MIL-L-85762A and MIL-STD-3009.
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) is intended to be used as a guide for defining the methods to be used in performing electrical acceptance tests with automatic test equipment and to ensure repeatability and compatibility of results between manufacturers and between manufacturers and users.
SAE J1298 covers the recommended diagnostic port sizes for use in measuring hydraulic fluid temperature, pressure, flow, and for obtaining fluid samples. See SAE J1502 for the detailed coupling specifications.
This specification covers the requirements for compositions of corrosion-resistant (18-8) steel bars, rods, wire and forging stock.
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) outlines the functional and design requirements for a self-propelled belt conveyor for handling baggage and cargo at aircraft bulk cargo holds. Additional considerations and requirements may legally apply in other countries. As an example, for operation in Europe (EU and EFTA), the applicable EN standards shall be complied with.
This specification covers two types of thickened, water base temporary coating remover in the form of an alkaline liquid.
This specification covers the specific requirements for 2124 aluminum alloy plate for intended use in the -T851 temper; the general requirements are covered in AMS-QQ-A-250.
This specification covers the specific requirements for 2219 aluminum alloy plate and sheet.
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) defines Minimum Performance Standards (MPS), qualification requirements, and minimum documentation requirements for side-facing seats in civil rotorcraft, transport aircraft, and general aviation aircraft. The goal is to achieve comfort, durability, and occupant protection under normal operational loads and to define test and evaluation criteria to demonstrate occupant protection when a side-facing seat/occupant/restraint system is subjected to statically applied ultimate loads and to dynamic test conditions set forth in Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 23, 25, 27, or 29. While this document addresses system performance, responsibility for the seating system is divided between the seat supplier and the installation applicant. The seat supplier’s responsibility consists of meeting all the seat system performance requirements and obtaining and supplying to the installation applicant all the data prescribed by this document. The
This specification establishes requirements for 2xxx-series and 7xxx-series aluminum alloy forgings of any shape or form from which finished parts are to be made. (See 8.2, 8.3, 8.4, 8.5.4, 8.6 and 8.8.)
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) provides general requirements for components that are used in commercial aircraft hydraulic systems. It also includes the 14 CFR Part 25/CS 25 regulations that apply to hydraulic components. It also provides information to be included in the Procurement Specification in Appendix A and a checklist for design reviews in Appendix B. It does not provide requirements for distribution elements such as hoses, pipe fittings and general tubing.
This ARP provides definitions and background information regarding the physical performance and testing of DDVs. This ARP also provides extensive guidance for the preparation of procurement specifications and functional testing.
SAE J1939-13 specifies the diagnostic connectors used for off-board connection to a vehicle’s SAE J1939 communication links. The defined diagnostic connectors support connection to the twisted shielded pair media (refer to SAE J1939-11), the unshielded twisted pair (refer to SAE J1939-15), the twisted pair (refer to SAE J1939-14), and the twisted unshielded quad media (refer to ISO 11783-2).
