This method is intended to evaluate the thermal and oxidative stability of synthetic, ester-based aviation lubricants under defined conditions of time and temperature. This method is applicable to lubricants meeting the compositional and performance requirements of AS5780.
Long wave ultraviolet or UV-A irradiation (between 320 and 400 nm) is used for fluorescent inspections in magnetic particle and liquid penetrant examinations. UV-A irradiation is obtained from either LED, fluorescent, or high intensity discharge lamps that are stationary or portable. Commercially available UV-A lamps possess a large variation in intensity output that may introduce a legitimate concern for possible health hazards. This document reviews the nature of UV-A irradiation emitted by lamps and acceptable UV dosage limits adopted by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH®) and European Union and recommendation of proper practices when working with UV-A irradiation.
This specification covers the installation of aircraft interior lighting for military aircraft.
This SAE Standard covers general, dimensional data, and methods of test for two types of general purpose nut and conical spring washer assemblies, designated Type LN and Type HN, intended for mass production and other operations where speed and convenience are paramount factors.
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) is written for individuals associated with the ground-level testing of large and small gas turbine engines and particularly for those who might be interested in constructing new or adding to existing engine test cell facilities.
This standard is for use by organizations that procure and integrate EEE Parts. These organizations may provide EEE Parts that are not integrated into assemblies (e.g., spares and/or repair EEE Parts). Examples of such organizations include, but are not limited to, the following: Original Equipment Manufacturers; contract assembly manufacturers; maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) organizations; and suppliers that provide EEE Parts or assemblies as part of a service. These requirements are intended to be applied (or flowed down as applicable) through the supply chain to all organizations that procure and integrate EEE Parts and/or systems, subsystems, or assemblies. The mitigation of Counterfeit EEE Parts in this standard is risk based. These mitigation steps will vary depending on the criticality of the application and desired performance and reliability of the equipment/hardware. The requirements of this document are used in conjunction with the organization’s higher-level
This SAE Standard was developed to provide a method for indicating the direction of engine rotation and numbering of engine cylinders. The document is intended for use in designing new engines to eliminate the differences which presently exist in industry.
The requirements of 9100 apply with the following clarification for software. This standard supplements the 9100 standard requirements for deliverable software and contains quality management system requirements for organizations that design, develop, and/or produce deliverable software and services for the aviation, space, and defense industry. This includes, as required, support software that is used in the development and maintenance of deliverable software and services. The deliverable software may be stand-alone, embedded, mobile application, or loadable into a target computer. This deliverable software may also be part of services (e.g., cloud environment, web hosted solutions or platforms). Where the use of Hardware Description Language (HDL) or high order language is utilized as the design source of electronic hardware [e.g., Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC), Programmable Logic Device (PLD)]; the organization and customer, and/or supplier shall agree on the extent
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) establishes supplemental requirements for 9100 and 9145 and applies to any organization receiving it as part of a purchase order or other contractual document from a customer. AS13100 also provides details of the reference materials (RM13xxx) developed by the SAE G-22 AESQ committee and listed in Section 2 that can also be used by organizations in conjunction with this standard.
This document applies to safety observers or spotters involved with the use of outdoor laser systems. It may be used in conjunction with AS4970.
This procurement specification covers rivets fabricated from an aluminum alloy designated as 1100-H14, strain hardened.
This SAE Recommended Practice incorporates a track-based test procedure that produces a representative value for vehicle top speed when operating on a level paved road with a fully charged battery.
This specification covers the requirements for embrittlement relief (baking) of heat treated steel parts to remove hydrogen infused during plating and certain other chemical processing such as stripping, chemical milling, pickling, and etching.
This SAE Recommended Practice describes test methods for measuring and identifying the natural frequencies for the lower order modes of an inflated radial tire with a fixed spindle while expending modest effort and employing a minimum of test equipment. The methods apply to any size of radial tire so long as the test equipment is properly scaled to conduct the measurements for the intended test tire. Two types of boundary conditions are considered for the tire: unloaded and loaded against a flat surface. The test involves the performance and measurement of an input vibratory force (excitation) to the tire and the corresponding vibratory output (response). The data are suitable for use in determining parameters for road load models and for comparative evaluations of the measured properties in research and development. NOTE 1—The focus of this standard is identification and reporting of the lower order natural frequencies of the tire using a simple test procedure. While higher order
