This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) defines helicopter turboshaft engine power assurance theory and methods. Several inflight power assurance example procedures are presented. These procedures vary from a very simple method used on some normal category civil helicopters, to the more complex methods involving trend monitoring and rolling average techniques. The latter method can be used by small operators but is generally better suited to the larger operator with computerized maintenance record capability.

Key steps or efforts for comparing ECS designs on the basis of LCC are outlined. Brief descriptions of two computer programs for estimating LCC of total aircraft programs and their use to estimate ECS LCC, are included.
AC-9 Aircraft Environmental Systems Committee
The purpose of this document is to establish air-conditioning design guidelines that will apply to most systems rather than the specific design of any particular system. Operating conditions and characteristics of the equipment will determine the design of any successful system; since these characteristics and conditions vary greatly from one application to another, the designer shall determine the goals expected to be reached under the conditions encountered. To determine the capacity of such items as blowers, condenser fans, condenser coils, evaporator coils, filters, compressors, etc., will require the adherence to several guidelines, some of which are outlined in the following paragraphs.

The purpose of this Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) is to provide the sample selection and endurance time test procedures for SAE Type II, III, and IV aircraft deicing/anti-icing fluids, required for the generation of endurance time data of acceptable quality for review by the SAE G-12 Holdover Time Committee. The related standard ARP5718 provides the process by which endurance time data is converted to holdover times for publication by regulators and subsequent use by aircraft operators.
G-12HOT Holdover Time Committee
This Aerospace Standard (AS), establishes minimum performance standards for those sensors, computers, transponders, and airplane flight deck controls/displays which together comprise a Takeoff Performance Monitor (TOPM) System. This standard also defines functional capabilities, design requirements, and test procedures. A TOPM system is intended to monitor the progress of the takeoff and to provide advisory information which the crew may use in conjunction with other available cues to decide to continue or abort the takeoff. See Appendix A for supplementary information relating to NTSB, CAA, and ad hoc committee concerns and background information.

This specification, in conjunction with the general requirements for steel heat treatment covered in AMS2759, establishes the requirements for heat treatment of carbon and low-alloy steel parts to minimum ultimate tensile strengths below 220 ksi (1517 MPa). Parts are defined in AMS2759. Due to limited hardenability in these materials, there are size limits in this specification.

Type II/2 covers NAS3610/AS36100 code sizes. Type III pallets have been removed from this SAE Aerospace Standard revision.

This Aerospace Information Report (AIR) addresses the subject of aircraft inlet-swirl distortion. A structured methodology for characterizing steady-state swirl distortion in terms of swirl descriptors and for correlating the swirl descriptors with loss in stability pressure ratio is presented. The methodology is to be considered in conjunction with other SAE inlet distortion methodologies. In particular, the combined effects of swirl and total-pressure distortion on stability margin are considered. However, dynamic swirl, i.e., time-variant swirl, is not considered. The implementation of the swirl assessment methodology is shown through both computational and experimental examples. Different types of swirl distortion encountered in various engine installations and operations are described, and case studies which highlight the impact of swirl on engine stability are provided. This SAE recommended practice defines the system and component functions, measurement metrics, testing methodologies for evaluating the functionality and performance of tire pressure systems, and recommended maintenance practices within the known operating environments. This document is applicable to all axle and all wheel combinations for single unit powered vehicles exceeding 7257 kg (16 000 US lb) gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), and multi-unit vehicle combinations, up to three (3) towed units, which use an SAE J560 connector for power and/or communication, or equivalent successor connector technology, or which use a suitable capacity wireless solution. Examples of included single chassis vehicles would be – utility and delivery vans, tow trucks, rack trucks, buses, recreational vehicles, fuel trucks, trash trucks, dump trucks, cement trucks, and tractors. In particular, this standard defines the use of the data interfaces in order to facilitate the: a confirmation of system performance and function; b external initiation of built-in-test (BIT) functions; c performance of other diagnostic tests of system health; d downloading M&T data; e uploading software changes. This standard does not cover mechanical or electrical interfaces, nor does it define the basic platform-to-sensor communication protocols and formats. Furthermore, this standard does not address software changes that are made by the manufacturer and not accessible at the sensor interfaces. Data protocols and formats are covered by AS6135. Electrical interfaces are covered by AS6129. This standard covers the use of the interfaces defined by AS6129 and AS6135 for the purposes described herein.

Maintenance programs initiated on ground support equipment must also conform to regulations controlling airport operations.
