This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) recommends a methodology to be used for the design, analysis and test evaluation of modern helicopter gas turbine propulsion system stability and transient response characteristics. This methodology utilizes the computational power of modern digital computers to more thoroughly analyze, simulate and bench-test the helicopter engine/rotor system speed control loop over the flight envelope. This up-front work results in significantly less effort expended during flight test and delivers a more effective system into service. The methodology presented herein is recommended for modern digital electronic propulsion control systems and also for traditional analog and hydromechanical systems.

This SAE Surface Vehicle Technical Information Report, SAE J2836/4, establishes diagnostic use cases between plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) and the electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). As PEVs are deployed and include both plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) and battery electric (BEV) vehicle variations, failures of the charging session between the EVSE and PEV may include diagnostics particular to the vehicle variations. This document describes the general information required for diagnostics and SAE J2847/4 will include the detail messages to provide accurate information to the customer and/or service personnel to identify the source of the issue and assist in resolution. Existing vehicle diagnostics can also be added and included during this charging session regarding issues that have occurred or are imminent to the EVSE or PEV, to assist in resolution of these items.

This report lists documents that aid and govern the design, development, certification, and utilization of aerospace electronic engine control systems. The report lists the military and industry specifications and standards that are commonly used in electronic engine control system design. Also included are Airworthiness Authority documents and requirements associated with certification. However, these lists are not necessarily complete. The specifications and standards section has been divided into two parts: a master list, and a categorized list that provides a functional breakdown and cross-reference of these documents. For specifications and standards, the issue available during the latest revision to this document is listed. Details of current revisions for many documents are available in the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards (DODISS). It should be noted that not all of these documents are referenced or even recognized by all certification authorities. In

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) provides methodologies and approaches that have been used to install and integrate full-authority-digital-engine-control (FADEC) systems on transport category aircraft. Although most of the information provided is based on turbofan/turboprop engines installed on large commercial transports, many of the issues raised are equally applicable to corporate, general aviation, regional, and commuter aircraft, and to military installations, particularly when commercial aircraft are employed by military users. The word “engine” is used to designate the aircraft propulsion system. The engine station designations used in this report are shown in Figures 1 to 3. Most of the material concerns an electronic engine control (EEC) with its associated software and its functional integration with the aircraft. However, the report also addresses the physical environment associated with the EEC and its associated wiring and sensors. Since most current transport

This SAE Standard establishes the test procedure, environment, and instrumentation for determining the exhaust sound pressure levels of motorcycles under stationary conditions. Since initial publication, it has been successfully applied to regulation and monitoring of sound pressure levels of off-highway vehicles, and that remains its recommended application. Users of SAE J1287 for the purpose of roadside enforcement of sound pressure levels for on-highway motorcycles have reported difficulties with its implementation in that application. In response, SAE J2825 was developed, and is recommended for measurement of exhaust sound pressure levels of stationary on-highway motorcycles. Care must be taken not to confuse stationary sound pressure levels with total motorcycle sound pressure levels. This test does not evaluate total motorcycle sound during operation. For this purpose, SAE J331 or SAE J47 is recommended. Any allowable sound limits (dBA) set in relation to SAE J1287 for exhaust

This document is intended to give guidance to users, regulators and persons in the aviation field who may be affected by the potential visual interference effects of lasers aimed at aircraft by the general public. The potential effects include startle (distraction, disruption, disorientation, and operational incapacitation), glare, and flashblindness. This document provides mitigation strategies against such effects, including operational procedures, pilot education, and the use of Laser Glare Protection. Prevention of harm from laser eye injuries is discussed but is not a focus of this document, due to the extremely low likelihood of injurious levels of laser light in typical aircraft illumination scenarios. Devices for detecting and reporting hazardous laser illuminations are briefly described in Appendix D, but are not a focus of this document. Some information in this document may also be useful for non-aviation users, such as persons driving vehicles. Additional information can be

This standard is applicable to all items used for manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of aviation, space, and defense products from the raw material to the final product (e.g., aircraft, structural items, constituent assemblies, standard parts, consumables with conformity and/or safety impact). This standard considers items dispositioned as scrap in accordance with 9100-series standards’ supporting nonconformity management, corrective action, or organization decisions (e.g., obsolescence, inventory management, missing traceability documentation). The requirements specified in this standard are complementary (not alternative) to contractual and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. Should there be a conflict between the requirements of this standard and applicable statutory or regulatory requirements, the applicable statutory or regulatory requirements take precedence. This standard defines requirements and actions to be taken after the disposition decision to control the
