This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) recommends a methodology to be used for the design, analysis and test evaluation of modern helicopter gas turbine propulsion system stability and transient response characteristics. This methodology utilizes the computational power of modern digital computers to more thoroughly analyze, simulate and bench-test the helicopter engine/rotor system speed control loop over the flight envelope. This up-front work results in significantly less effort expended during flight test and delivers a more effective system into service. The methodology presented herein is recommended for modern digital electronic propulsion control systems and also for traditional analog and hydromechanical systems.

This SAE Surface Vehicle Technical Information Report, SAE J2836/4, establishes diagnostic use cases between plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) and the electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). As PEVs are deployed and include both plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) and battery electric (BEV) vehicle variations, failures of the charging session between the EVSE and PEV may include diagnostics particular to the vehicle variations. This document describes the general information required for diagnostics and SAE J2847/4 will include the detail messages to provide accurate information to the customer and/or service personnel to identify the source of the issue and assist in resolution. Existing vehicle diagnostics can also be added and included during this charging session regarding issues that have occurred or are imminent to the EVSE or PEV, to assist in resolution of these items.

This SAE Recommended Practice provides a system for classification and specification for limited number of polyamides (nylons) used in the Automotive Industry. Based upon ASTM D 4066, Classification System for Nylon Injection and Extrusion Materials (PA), it calls for additional descriptive characteristics and properties commonly used in the Automotive Industry. This document applies to natural and non-color matched black, heat-stabilized polyamide compounds only. Color matched compounds shall be defined by the proprietary OEM standards. This document allows for the use of recycled, reconstituted, and regrind materials provided that the requirements as stated in this document are met, the material has not been altered or modified to change its suitability for safe processing and use, and the material shall be identified as such.

This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) defines a means of assessing the credibility of computer models of aircraft seating systems used to simulate dynamic impact conditions set forth in Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) Parts 23.562, 25.562, 27.562, and 29.562. The ARP is applicable to lumped mass and detailed finite element seat models. This includes specifications and performance criteria for aviation specific virtual anthropomorphic test devices (v-ATDs). This document provides a recommended methodology to evaluate the degree of correlation between a seat model and dynamic impact tests. This ARP also provides best practices for testing and modeling designed to support the implementation of analytical models of aircraft seat systems. Supporting information within this document includes procedures for the quantitative comparison of test and simulation results, as well as test summaries for data generated to support the development of v-ATDs and a sample v-ATD

SAE J2534-1_0500 defines the pass-thru interface requirements for the reprogramming of emission related control modules. The SAE J2534-2/X_0500 document set adds extensions to the SAE J2534-1_0500 API (version 05.00) specification so that the API can be used for features not covered in the SAE J2534-1_0500 specification. Together, these features provide a comprehensive framework for a common standard, to protect the software investment of the vehicle OEMs and scan tool manufacturers. There is no required for an SAE J2534-2/X_0500 pass-thru interface to be fully compliant with SAE J2534-1_0500. SAE J2534-2/X_0500 interfaces can implement some or all of the features specified in the SAE J2534-2/X_0500 document set. This document must be used in conjunction with the SAE J2534-2/RE_0500 document.

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) contains requirements for a digital time division command/response multiplex data bus, for use in systems integration that is functionally similar to MIL-STD-1553B with Notice 2 but with a star topology and some deleted functionality. Even with the use of this document, differences may exist between multiplex data buses in different system applications due to particular application requirements and the options allowed in this document. The system designer must recognize this fact and design the multiplex bus controller (BC) hardware and software to accommodate such differences. These designer selected options must exist to allow the necessary flexibility in the design of specific multiplex systems in order to provide for the control mechanism, architectural redundancy, degradation concept, and traffic patterns peculiar to the specific application requirements.

This SAE Recommended Practice provides uniform laboratory procedures for biaxial fatigue testing of wheels intended for normal highway use and temporary use on passenger car vehicles and light trucks and minimum cycle requirement for ferrous wheels for ballasted passenger car applications. The appendices provide scalable load files that are applicable to ballasted passenger cars and ballasted light trucks. A load file for unballasted passenger cars will be added to this document.

This paper was prepared to support supersession of MIL-S-8879C with Screw Thread Conformity Task Force selected industry standard AS8879C, published by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Other documentation changes will be covered by separate papers. Separate papers are anticipated for thread gaging issues, and thread gage calibration procedures. The STC-TF decided that the thread design standard needed to be completed before thread gage definition could be addressed. Thread gage definition has to be known before calibration procedures can be addressed.

The document is intended to govern data element definitions, to provide a minimum data element set, and to specify a common ADS data logger record format as applicable for motor vehicle applications. Automated driving systems (ADSs) perform the complete dynamic driving task (DDT) while engaged. In the absence of a human “driver,” the ADS itself could be the only witness of a collision event. As such, a definition of the ADS data recording is necessary in order to standardize information available to the accident reconstructionist. This document establishes the minimum training and qualification requirements for ground-based aircraft deicing methods and procedures. All guidelines referred to herein are applicable only in conjunction with the applicable documents. Due to aerodynamic and other concerns, the application of deicing fluids shall be carried out in compliance with engine and aircraft manufacturers’ recommendations. The scope of training should be adjusted according to local demands. There are a wide variety of winter seasons and differences of the involvement between deicing operators, and therefore, the level and length of training should be adjusted accordingly. However, the minimum level of training shall be covered in all cases. As a rule of thumb, the amount of time spent in practical training should equal or exceed the amount of time spent in classroom training.

Type II/2 covers NAS3610/AS36100 code sizes. Type III pallets have been removed from this SAE Aerospace Standard revision.

This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) addresses the general procedure for the best practices for minimizing uncertainty when calibrating thermal conductivity and cold cathode vacuum gauges, which includes the vacuum sensor(s) and accompanying electronics necessary for a pressure measurement to be made. It also includes the best practices for an in-process verification where limitations make it impossible to follow the best practices for minimizing uncertainty. Verifying the accuracy and operation of vacuum gauges is critical to ensure the maintenance of processes while under vacuum.
