The related standard ARP5718 provides the process by which endurance time data is converted to holdover times for publication by regulators and subsequent use by aircraft operators.

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) defines the requirements for a threadless, flexible, high conductive, self-bonding coupling assembly which, when installed on defined ferrules, provides a flexible connection for joining ducting and components in pressurized fluid systems. The assembled coupling is designed to provide interchangeability of parts and components between qualified manufacturers for use from -65 to +265 °F at 130 psi nominal operating pressures and for the service life of the aircraft system. FAR 23.954, FAR 25.603, FAR 25.605, FAR 25.609, FAR 25.613, FAR 25.901, FAR 25.954, and FAR 25.981 certification requirements have identified the need for high-current capable flexible fluid assembled couplings. The coupling assembly does not require inspection or maintenance to remain current capable for the life of the aircraft. The chemical composition limits and minimum mechanical properties are shown. Over the years, magnesium alloys have been identified by many numbering systems, as shown in Table 1. Presently, SAE is recommending the use of the use of the UNS numbering system to identify those materials. Other equally important characteristics such as surface finish and dimensional tolerances are not covered in this standard.

Communicate the process of accurately measuring sound power levels of positive displacement hydraulic pumps commonly used in ground vehicle steering systems. This recommended practice defines the pump mounting (pulley, belt tension, isolation), operating conditions (fluid, speed, temperature, pressure), room acoustics, instrumentation, noise measurement technique and data acquisition setup to be used. Included are recommendations for test sample size, and format for data presentation/reporting.
Vehicle Performance Steering Committee
This SAE Standard presents a test procedure for determining the airborne sound insulation performance of materials and composite layers of materials commonly found in mobility, industrial, and commercial products under conditions of representative size and sound incidence so as to allow better correlation with in-use sound insulator performance. The frequency range of interest is typically 100 to 10000 Hz 1/3-octave band center frequencies. This test method is designed for testing flat samples with uniform cross section, although in some applications the methodology can be extended to evaluate formed parts, pass-throughs, or other assemblies to determine their acoustical properties. For non-flat parts or assemblies where transmitted sound varies strongly across the test sample surface, a more appropriate methodology would be ASTM E90 (with a reverberant receiving chamber) or ASTM E2249 (intensity method with an anechoic or hemi-anechoic receiving chamber).

ARP6366 defines a comprehensive and widely-accepted set of specification guidelines to be considered by those seeking to use or design fiber optic sensors for aerospace applications. Some of the most common applications for fiber optic sensing within aerospace include inertial guidance and navigation (gyros) and structural monitoring (temperature, strain, and vibration sensing). Common sensor infrastructure elements include: transmitting and receiving opto-electronics (e.g., sources and receivers); multiplexing and demultiplexing optics; optical cabling; and signal processing (both hardware and firmware/software).

The heating value or heat of combustion is a measure of the energy available from the fuel. The fraction or percentage of the heat of combustion that is converted to useful work is a measure of the thermal efficiency of an engine. Thus, a knowledge of the heat of combustion of the fuel is basic to the engineering of automotive engines. This SAE Information Report provides information on the standardized procedures for determining the heat of combustion of fuels that may be used for automotive engines. The changes to SAE J1498 include: SAE Publications - Added SAE Paper 2010-01-1517 Other Publications and Sections 5, 9, and 10 - Updated ASTM alphanumeric designations and titles. Section 10 - Added discussion of a method to calculate net heating value for gasoline-ethanol blends using ASTM D3338.
