This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) discusses past and present approaches for monitoring the landing gear structure and shock absorber (servicing), opportunities for corrosion detection, methods for transient overload detection, techniques for measuring the forces seen by the landing gear structure, and methods for determining the fatigue state of the landing gear structure. Landing gear tire condition and tire pressure monitoring are detailed in ARP6225, AIR4830, and ARP6137, respectively. Aircraft Brake Temperature Monitoring Systems (BTMS) are detailed in AS1145.

This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) provides guidance in the design, development, qualification test, process control and production acceptance test for flight critical control valve (FCCV) design used in military flight control servoactuators where loss of single valve control could cause a catastrophic failure resulting in death, permanent total disability, and/or financial loss exceeding a defined contractual limit. The FCCV, which is one element of a flight control actuator servo control loop, is a variable position control valve which modulates fluid into and out of the servoactuator power stage cylinders. The FCCV may be mechanically driven by either a mechanical flight control system as shown in FIGURE 1 or hydraulically driven from electro-hydraulic servo valve (EHSV) modulation control flow as shown in FIGURE 2. This type of control valve is not an EHSV or a direct drive valve (DDV). The FCCV is used in military hydraulic systems which conform to AS5440.

This SAE Recommended Practice is part of the SAE J2534-2/X_0500 set of documents that extends the SAE J2534-1_0500 API (version 05.00) specification, and defines how to implement ethernet within the SAE J2534 API framework. This document details only the changes from SAE J2534-1_0500 and items not specifically detailed in this document are assumed to have not changed. An SAE J2534-2/13_0500 interface shall be compliant to the ethernet feature only when all the required functionality in this SAE Recommended Practice is implemented. Any functionality not required for compliance will be specifically marked as “optional” in this document. This document must be used in conjunction with the SAE J2534-2/BA_0500 and SAE J2534-2/RE_0500 documents.
Vehicle E E System Diagnostic Standards Committee
This report lists documents that aid and govern the design, development, certification, and utilization of aerospace electronic engine control systems. The report lists the military and industry specifications and standards that are commonly used in electronic engine control system design. Also included are Airworthiness Authority documents and requirements associated with certification. However, these lists are not necessarily complete. The specifications and standards section has been divided into two parts: a master list, and a categorized list that provides a functional breakdown and cross-reference of these documents. For specifications and standards, the issue available during the latest revision to this document is listed. Details of current revisions for many documents are available in the Department of Defense Index of Specifications and Standards (DODISS). It should be noted that not all of these documents are referenced or even recognized by all certification authorities. In

This SAE Information Report describes a concept of operations (CONOPS) for a Cooperative Driving Automation (CDA) Feature for infrastructure-based prescriptive cooperative merge. This work focuses on a Class D (Prescriptive; refer to J3216) CDA infrastructure-based cooperative merge Feature, supported by Class A (Status-Sharing) or Class C (Agreement-Seeking) messages among the merging cooperative automated driving system-operated vehicles (C-ADS-equipped vehicles). This document also provides a test procedure to evaluate this CDA Feature, which is suitable for proof-of-concept testing in both virtual and test track settings.

This document describes a method to calculate noise level adjustments at locations behind an airplane (described by an angular offset or directivity) at the start of takeoff roll (SOTR). This method is derived from empirical data from jet aircraft (circa 2004), most of which are configured with wing-mounted engines with high by-pass ratios (Lau, et al., 2012). Methods are also described which apply to modern turboprop aricraft. Calculations of other propagation-related adjustments required for aircraft noise prediction models are described in AIR1845A, ARP5534, ARP866A, and AIR5662.

The turbine-engine inlet flow distortion methodology addressed in this document applies only to the effects of inlet total-pressure distortion. Practices employed to quantify these effects continue to develop and, therefore, periodic updates are anticipated. The effects of other forms of distortion on flow stability and performance, and of any distortion on aeroelastic stability are not addressed. The guidelines can be used as necessary to create a development method to minimize the risk of inlet/engine compatibility problems. The degree to which guidelines for descriptor use, assessment techniques, and testing outlined in this document are applied to a specific program should be consistent with the expected severity of the compatibility problem.

This AS defines instruments which use inputs of static and pitot pressure equal to those which are utilized to establish the pressure altitude and speed of that aircraft. These pressures are applied to the instrument ports to provide means for generation of an aural warning whenever the aircraft reaches or exceeds the maximum operating limit speed. This Over Speed Warning Instrument function may be incorporated as part of an Air Data Computer, or an Air Speed Indicator, or an Air Speed/Mach Number Indicator, or other instruments. In those cases where the Over Speed Warning Instrument is part of another instrument, the standards contained herein apply only to the Over Speed Warning Instrument function. Each aircraft type and model has a defined maximum operating limit speed curve or curves which are a part of the airframe manufacturer's type certification approval data; this limit speed data shall be available from the subject airframe manufacturer as published in the operating manual
