The technical architecture defined in this document outlines mandatory, emerging, and needed standards to provide interoperability at key interfaces in the aircraft/store system (including an associated NATO Network Enabled Capability environment), as required to support a future plug-and-play aircraft/store integration capability. These standards relate to services and protocols associated with the subject interfaces. Modeling standards to facilitate the Model Driven Architecture® (MDA®) approach to system definition and implementation are also included. The objective of this ARP is to provide a set of user-centered design guidelines for the implementation of data driven electronic aeronautical charts, which dynamically create charts from a database of individual elements. The data driven chart is intended to provide information required to navigate, but it is not intended to supplant the aircraft’s primary navigation display. These guidelines seek to provide a balance between standardization of equipment with similar intended functions and individual manufacturer innovation. This ARP provides guidelines for the display of an electronic chart that can replace existing paper. This document addresses what information is required, when it is required, and how it should be displayed and controlled. This document does not include all the detailed specifications required to generate an electronic aeronautical chart. This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) provides a methodology for performing a statistical assessment of gas-turbine-engine stability-margin usage. Consideration is given to vehicle usage, fleet size, and environment to provide insight into the probability of encountering an in-service engine stall event. Current industry practices, such as ARP1420, supplemented by AIR1419, and engine thermodynamic models, are used to determine and quantify the contribution of individual stability threats. The statistical technique adopted by the S-16 committee for performing a statistical stability assessment is the Monte Carlo method (see Applicable References 1 and 2). While other techniques may be suitable, their application is beyond the scope of this document. The intent of the document is to present a methodology and process to construct a statistical-stability-assessment model for use on a specific system and its mission or application.

The scope of this joint EUROCAE/SAE report is to compile the considerations relating to airborne application of hydrogen fuel cells. This document provides a comprehensive analysis of the use of hydrogen as a fuel by describing its existing applications and the experience gained by exploiting fuel cells in sectors other than aviation. The use of hydrogen fuel cells in aircraft can help in meeting aviation environmental targets (including noise pollution) and can be vital to achieving efficient electrically propelled air vehicles. The experience gained with mature fuel cells in terrestrial applications and the handling of other gases in aviation, as presented herein, will help in alleviating safety concerns and in demystifying the usage of hydrogen in aviation.

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) discusses the forms that air may take in aircraft hydraulic systems. Further, the effects of the various air forms on system operation are addressed. Recommended system design to prevent air effects and maintenance procedures to prevent and remove air are provided. Nitrogen leakage from accumulators is also a source of gas in hydraulic systems and may compose a portion of the “air” in the hydraulic system. The term “air” in this report does not differentiate between a gas composed strictly of normal atmospheric air or one that includes a mixture of additional nitrogen as well. The discussions of the report apply equally with any proportions of atmospheric air and nitrogen in the system.

This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) covers specification requirements for a rotary plow with carrier vehicle. The primary use is to cast heavy concentrations of snow approximately perpendicular to carrier vehicles across and away from airport operational areas, such as runways and taxiways. Rotary plows equipped with spot casting, or loading chutes are also used to cast snow in directions through approximately 100 degrees to the left or right of directly in front of the carrier vehicle, and also to load trucks or trailers used to haul snow away from removal area. The term “carrier vehicle” represents the various self-propelled prime movers that provide the power necessary to move snow and ice control equipment during winter operations.
