OPTC3, Lighting and Sound Committee
Through the use of ultra-high frequency ultrasound, typically above 10 MHz, Acoustic Microscopy (AM) non-destructively finds and characterizes physical features and latent defects (visualization of interior features in a layer by layer process) - such as material continuity and discontinuities, sub-surface flaws, cracks, voids, delaminations and porosity. AM observed features and defects can be indicators that the components were improperly handled, stored, altered or previously used. If AS6171/6 is invoked in the contract, the base document, AS6171 General Requirements shall also apply.
G-19A Test Laboratory Standards Development Committee
The recommended practice describes a design standard that defines the maximum recommended voltage drop of the starting motor main circuits, as well as control system circuits, for 12/24-V starter systems. The battery technologies used in developing this document include the flooded lead acid, gel cell, and AGM. Starting systems supported by NiCd, Lithium Ion, NiZn, etc., or Ultracaps are not included in this document. This document is not intended to be updated or modified to include starter motors rated at voltages above the nominal 24-V electrical system. The starter is basically an electrical-to-mechanical power converter. If you double the available battery power in, you double the peak mechanical power out and double the heat losses. This means that we have to pay special attention to how battery power changes when we change the battery voltage and the effects it may have in overpowering the cranking system. Truck and Bus Electrical Systems Committee
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) describes the continuous sampling and analysis of gaseous emissions from aircraft gas turbine engines. The measured gas species include carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), hydrocarbons (HC), and water vapor (H2O). This ARP excludes engine operating procedures and test modes, and is not intended for in-flight testing, nor does it apply to engines operating in the afterburning mode. It is recognized that there will probably be major advances in the gas analysis measurement technology. It is not the intent of this ARP to exclude other analysis techniques, but to form the basis of the minimum amount of conventional instruments (those in common industry usage over the last fifteen years) required for the analysis of aircraft engine exhaust. Also, at the end of this report, there is a brief paragraph on other types of seal rings.
A-6C2 Seals Committee
These specifications cover molded cups 51 mm (2 in) in diameter and under, compounded from high temperature resistant rubber for use in hydraulic actuating cylinders employing motor vehicle brake fluid conforming to the requirements specified in SAE J1703 and SAE J1705. These specifications cover the performance tests of hydraulic brake cups under specified conditions and do not include requirements relating to chemical composition, tensile strength, and elongation of the rubber compound. Disc brake seals are not covered by this document.
Hydraulic Brake Components Standards Committee
This specification applies to a communication protocol for networked control systems. The protocol provides peer-to-peer communication for networked control and is suitable for implementing both peer-to-peer and master-slave control strategies. This specification describes services for all seven protocol layers. MTC4, Forestry and Logging Equipment

NOTE: The requirement for packaging is an integral part of the controlled storage procedure and provides a means of positive product identity from the time of manufacture to the time of assembly into a component.

This standard defines uniform quality and technical requirements relative to metallic parts marking performed using "data matrix symbology" within the aviation, space, and defense industry. ISO/IEC 16022 specifies general requirements (e.g., data character encodation, error correction rules, decoding algorithm). In addition to ISO/IEC 16022 specification, part identification with such symbology is subject to the requirements in this standard to ensure electronic reading of the symbol. The marking processes covered by this standard are as follows: Dot Peening Laser Electro-Chemical Etching Further marking processes will be included, if required. Unless specified otherwise in the contractual business relationship, the company responsible for the design of the part shall determine the location of the data matrix marking. Symbol position should allow optimum illumination from all sides for readability. This standard does not specify information to be encoded.
G-14 Americas Aerospace Quality Standards Committee (AAQSC)
This document describes an assessment of the effectiveness of a specified test plan used to screen for counterfeit parts. The assessment includes the determination of the types of defects detected using a specified test plan along with the related counterfeit type coverage. The output of this evaluation will produce Counterfeit Defect Coverage (CDC), Counterfeit Type Coverage (CTC), Not-Covered Defects (NCDs), and Under-Covered Defects (UCDs). This information will be supplied to the test laboratory’s customer in both the test report and the Certificate of Quality Conformance (CoQC). This evaluation method does not address the effectiveness of detecting tampered type devices. The Test Evaluation Method also describes an Optimized Test Sequence Selection, in which a test sequence is selected that maximizes the CDC utilizing test cost and time as constraints, for any tier level except the Critical Risk Level. CTTC C1, Hydraulic Systems
The scope of SAE J3143 will cover non-metallic line assemblies intended for containing and circulating lubricant (PAG, POE compressor oils), liquid, and gaseous R-134a, R-152a, or R-1234yf refrigerant in automotive air-conditioning systems. SAE J3143 will also provide the necessary hose permeation values used in SAE J2727 mobile air-conditioning system refrigerant emission charts. The assembly shall be designed to minimize permeation of the refrigerant, contamination of the system, and to be functional over a temperature range of -30 to 125 °C. Specific construction details are to be agreed upon between user and supplier. Figure 1 shows a typical A/C system with TXV.
Interior Climate Control MAC Supplier Committee
This SAE Standard provides testing and functional requirements to meet specified minimum performance criteria for electronic probe-type leak detectors. The equipment specified here will identify smaller refrigerant leaks when servicing motor vehicle air conditioning systems, including those engineered with improved sealing and smaller refrigerant charges to address environmental concerns and increase system efficiency. This document does not address any safety issues concerning the equipment design or use beyond that of sampling a flammable refrigerant, save those described in 3.1 and 3.2 of this document. All requirements of this standard shall be verified in SAE J2911.
