This supplement forms a part of SAE Aerospace Specification AS85421. It shall be used to identify fitting standards citing this procurement specification.
This SAE Standard establishes the test procedure, environment, and instrumentation for determining the sound levels of snowmobiles in the stationary test mode. This test method is intended to provide an accurate measurement of exhaust and other engine noise and may be used to evaluate new and in-use snowmobiles to determine compliance with noise control regulations. Sound level measurements obtained with this test method are not intended as an engineering determination of overall machine noise. For this purpose, the use of SAE J192 is recommended.

This specification covers a tetrafluoroethylene/propylene rubber (FEPM) in the form of molded rings.
The SAE J1939 communications network is developed for use in heavy-duty environments and is suitable for horizontally integrated vehicle industries. The SAE J1939 communications network is applicable for light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty vehicles used on-road or off-road, and for appropriate stationary applications which use vehicle-derived components (e.g., generator sets). Vehicles of interest include, but are not limited to, on-highway and off-highway trucks and their trailers, construction equipment, and agricultural equipment and implements. SAE J1939-71 is the SAE J1939 reference document describing SAE J1939 parameter (SP) and message (PG) definitions, SLOT (standard data encoding) definitions, conventions and notations used to specify the parameter (SP) placement in PG data, conventions for text data parameters, and conventions for PG transmission rates. This document previously contained the majority of the SAE J1939 OSI application layer data parameters and messages for
This specification covers a chloroprene (CR) rubber in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, and molded shapes.
This specification covers a Silicone (PVMQ) Rubber compound in the form of molded rings.
This specification covers a silicone (MQ/VMQ) elastomer that can be used to manufacture product in the form of sheet, strip, tubing, extrusions, and molded shapes. This specification should not be used for molded rings, compression seals, O-ring cord, and molded in place gaskets for aeronautical and aerospace applications without complete consideration of the end use prior to the selection of this material.
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) covers forced air technology including: reference material, equipment, safety, operation, and methodology. This resource document is intended to provide information and minimum safety guidelines regarding the use of forced air or forced air/fluid equipment to remove frozen contaminants.
This specification covers a corrosion and heat-resistant cobalt alloy in the form of welding rods, coating rods, or wrought wire.
SAE J1939-73 defines the SAE J1939 messages to accomplish diagnostic services and identifies the diagnostic connector to be used for the vehicle service tool interface. Diagnostic messages (DMs) provide the utility needed when the vehicle is being repaired. Diagnostic messages are also used during vehicle operation by the networked electronic control modules to allow them to report diagnostic information and self-compensate as appropriate, based on information received. Diagnostic messages include services such as periodically broadcasting active diagnostic trouble codes, identifying operator diagnostic lamp status, reading or clearing diagnostic trouble codes, reading or writing control module memory, providing a security function, stopping/starting message broadcasts, reporting diagnostic readiness, monitoring engine parametric data, etc. California-, EPA-, or EU-regulated OBD requirements are satisfied with a subset of the specified connector and the defined messages.
This document provides recommendations involving BEV battery data retention and battery design that enhance the potential for BEV battery reuse and serviceability and that can improve recyclability. These recommendations have been developed by a group of professionals skilled in the secondary-use of batteries and in the research, development, and manufacture of BEV batteries and battery systems.

This specification covers pigs of one type of lead alloy used in the making of forming dies.
This specification covers an aluminum alloy powder metallurgy product in the form of sheet 0.010 to 0.250 inch (0.25 to 6.35 mm) in nominal thickness.
This AIR provides information about the specific requirements for missile hydraulic pumps and their associated power sources.
This SAE Recommended Practice has been established to provide direction for the design and installation of an identification number (IN) as assigned to vehicle engines, transmissions, and transaxles. The IN is used for tracking or traceability of these components. In adhering to these recommended practices, facility of application in factory production and appearance quality are matters for manufacturer control. Reference SAE J853.
See Table 1.
This SAE Standard is derived from SAE J2805 and specifies an engineering method for measuring the sound emitted by M and N category road vehicles at standstill and low speed operating conditions.. The specifications reproduce the level of sound which is generated by the principal vehicle sound sources consistent with stationary and low speed vehicle operating conditions relevant for pedestrian safety. The method is designed to meet the requirements of simplicity as far as they are consistent with reproducibility of results under the operating conditions of the vehicle. The test method requires an acoustic environment which is only obtained in an extensive open space or in special designed indoor facilities replicating the conditions of an extensive open space. Such conditions usually exist during: Measurements of vehicles for regulatory certification. Measurements at the manufacturing stage. Measurements at official testing stations. The results obtained by this method give an
