The primary objective of this recommended practice is to confirm that vehicles can communicate a minimum set of information in accordance with diagnostic test services specified in SAE J1979-2, or the equivalent ISO 14229-1:2013 (Ed. 2) and SAE J1979-3 documents. A successful result using the SAE J1699-5 Automotive Alliance for Innovation (AAI) software for OBD-II testing indicates that the main aspects of UDS communication have been examined, but it does not provide assurance of complete compliance with all aspects of SAE J1979-2 or SAE J1979-3. SAE J1699-5 tests run with a SAE J2534 device hardware and API that is not fully compliant will result in a test failure. This specification takes precedence over all conflicts in the documents cited in this section.

Since the communication to the charging infrastructure and the power grid for smart charging will also be communicated by the WEVSE to the EV over the wireless interface, these requirements are also covered. The purpose of this SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) is to disseminate qualitative information regarding foreign object debris (FOD) damage to the gas path of rotorcraft gas turbine engines and to discuss methods of FOD prevention. Although turbine-powered fixed-wing aircraft are also subject to FOD, the unique ability of the rotorcraft to hover above, takeoff from, and land on unprepared surfaces creates a special need for a separate treatment of this subject.

This is a joint SAE/EUROCAE development. This document will be released as both an SAE Aerospace Specification (AS) and a EUROCAE Minimum Aviation System Performance Standard (MASPS). This document defines the technical requirements for the safe integration of gaseous hydrogen fueled Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Fuel Cell Systems (FCS) within the aircraft. Most of the technical concepts and approaches covered by this document represent current industry "best practice". Others require specific approval from the procuring activity before use. This requirement for approval is not intended to prohibit their use; but rather to ensure that the prime contractor has fully investigated their capability to perform reliably and to be sufficiently durable under the required conditions and that the prime contractor can present substantiating evidence for approval before the design is committed to.

This document provides recommended best practice methods and processes for the in-service inspection, evaluation and cleaning of all physical contact (PC) fiber optic interconnect components (termini, alignment sleeves and connectors), test equipment and test leads for maintainers qualified to the approved aerospace fiber optic training courses developed in accordance with ARP5602 or ARINC807. This document also provides a decision-making disposition flowchart to determine whether the fiber optic components are acceptable for operation. For definitions of individual component parts refer to ARP5061.

This SAE Recommended Practice pertains to blast cleaning and shot peening and provides for standard cast shot and grit size numbers. For shot, this number corresponds with the opening of the nominal test sieve, in ten thousandths of inches1, preceded by an S. For grit, this number corresponds with the sieve designation of the nominal test sieve with the prefix G added. These sieves are in accordance with ASTM E11. The accompanying shot and grit classifications and size designations were formulated by representatives of shot and grit suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and automotive users.
