This SAE Standard establishes the test procedure, environment, and instrumentation for determining the sound levels of snowmobiles in the stationary test mode. This test method is intended to provide an accurate measurement of exhaust and other engine noise and may be used to evaluate new and in-use snowmobiles to determine compliance with noise control regulations. Sound level measurements obtained with this test method are not intended as an engineering determination of overall machine noise. For this purpose, the use of SAE J192 is recommended.

AMS6885/5 is the Material Specification (MS) which defines the requirements of a unidirectional carbon fiber tape epoxy repair prepreg capable of curing under vacuum for repair of carbon fiber reinforced epoxy structures. It also defines the requirements of an epoxy film adhesive to be applied in a co-bonding process with the prepreg for solid laminate and sandwich bonding.
This specification establishes requirements for two types and classes of a two component, low temperature curing, polysulfide, sealing compound for use as a quick-repair material for aircraft structure.
This specification covers the specific requirements for 7178 aluminum alloy, 7011 alclad, plate and sheet; the general requirements are covered in AMS-QQ-A-250. The plate and sheet covered by this specification shall be an integral composite product consisting of a heat-treatable 7178 aluminum alloy core with thin layers of a 7011 aluminum alloy anodic to the core and of approximately equal thickness, bonded to both surfaces.
This document provides vehicle-level data collection, data analysis, and data verification procedures that may be used to verify that an instrument under test (IUT) satisfies the vehicle-level requirements specified in the SAE International (SAE) J2945/1 standard. For the purposes of this recommended practice, “vehicle-level requirements” primarily consist of those requirements which can be verified external to the vehicle. The IUT for these procedures is a configured dedicated short range communications (DSRC) vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) device as defined in SAE J2945/1 and is installed on a light vehicle. While the IUT is conceptually separated from the vehicle it is installed on, the tests outlined in this document are primarily vehicle-level so the terms “vehicle” and “IUT” can generally be considered interchangeable. Additionally, non-vehicle-level complementary tests, not included in this document, are required to verify that the entire set of requirements specified in SAE J2945/1
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) provides recommended solid film lubricants for use on fluid system components at different temperatures and cyclic conditions.
This specification covers honeycomb core made of glass fabric impregnated with phenolic resin and supplied in the form of blocks, slices, and ordered shapes.
This specification covers a polybenzimidazole (PBI) polyamide fiberglass fabric impregnated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in the form of woven sheet or strip or of braided tubing.
This SAE Recommended Practice is part of the SAE J2534-2/X_0500 set of documents that extends the SAE J2534-1_0500 API (version 05.00) specification, and defines how to implement GM_UART within the SAE J2534 API framework. This document details only the changes from SAE J2534-1_0500 and items not specifically detailed in this document are assumed to have not changed. An SAE J2534-2/2_0500 interface shall be compliant to the GM_UART feature only when all the required functionality in this SAE Recommended Practice is implemented. Any functionality not required for compliance will be specifically marked as “optional” in this document. This document must be used in conjunction with the SAE J2534-2/BA_0500 and SAE J2534-2/RE_0500 documents.
This specification covers an ethylene propylene elastomer in the form of molded sheet and shapes, color coded purple per ARP1527.
This document provides information on provisions for passengers with disabilities on board commercial aircraft. In this context the term "provision of medical oxygen" shall be understood as application of oxygen on board an aircraft not linked to (post) decompression in the sense of Airworthiness Requirements FAR/CS 25 and Operational Regulations of FAR 121/135. Information about available equipment and physiological treatment in clinical practice will be provided in this document. It covers the use of oxygen concentrators according to guidance of FAR Advisory Circular AC120-95.
This specification covers a virgin, unfilled polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in the form of extruded and sintered rods, tubes, and profiles.
This SAE Recommended Practice is intended to provide basic information on properties and characteristics of high-strength carbon and alloy steels which have been subjected to special die drawing. This includes both cold drawing with heavier-than-normal drafts and die drawing at elevated temperatures.
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) defines the requirements for a heavy-duty polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) lined, metallic reinforced, hose assembly suitable for use in high temperature, high pressure, 4000 psi, aircraft and missile hydraulic fluid systems.
This standard lists variables that shall be investigated and reported as an initial investigation into new or revised surface finishes intended for use on fasteners. This standard provides instruction for producing a final report that will be used to determine if further investigation of a surface finish is justified. Further investigation may include tests and evaluations specific to an individual OEM prior to introduction/approval of the surface finish. The final report shall include the results, observations, and conclusions for all of the variables. The final report may be made up of several individual reports covering each variable. In all cases the laboratory performing the test, the test date and the report approver shall be included in the final report.
This specification covers an aluminum bronze alloy in the form of centrifugal and chill castings.
This specification covers vulcanized sheet made of granulated cork uniformly dispersed in a synthetic rubber compound, for use in gaskets where aromatic fuel or oil resistance is required (See 6.2).
This specification covers the requirements for embrittlement relief (baking) of heat treated steel parts to remove hydrogen infused during plating and certain other chemical processing such as stripping, chemical milling, pickling, and etching.
This SAE Standard establishes the test procedure, environment, and instrumentation for determining the exhaust sound pressure levels of motorcycles under stationary conditions. Since initial publication, it has been successfully applied to regulation and monitoring of sound pressure levels of off-highway vehicles, and that remains its recommended application. Users of SAE J1287 for the purpose of roadside enforcement of sound pressure levels for on-highway motorcycles have reported difficulties with its implementation in that application. In response, SAE J2825 was developed, and is recommended for measurement of exhaust sound pressure levels of stationary on-highway motorcycles. Care must be taken not to confuse stationary sound pressure levels with total motorcycle sound pressure levels. This test does not evaluate total motorcycle sound during operation. For this purpose, SAE J331 or SAE J47 is recommended. Any allowable sound limits (dBA) set in relation to SAE J1287 for exhaust
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) provides guidance for the design and installation of a commercial aircraft hydraulic system to meet the applicable requirements, including the applicable airworthiness regulations that affect the hydraulic system design. This ARP also provides information and guidelines on the many factors that arise in the design process to provide cost effectiveness, reliability, maintainability and accepted design and installation practices.
