This SAE Recommended Practice establishes the instrumentation and procedure to be used in measuring the maximum exterior sound level for engine powered equipment under 14.7 kW (20 bhp). It is intended to include equipment such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, tillers, etc. It is not intended to include equipment designed primarily for operation on highways or within factories and buildings, or vehicles such as motorcycles, snowmobiles, and pleasure motor boats that are covered by other SAE Standards or Recommended Practices. This SAE Recommended Practice may also be used when measuring the maximum exterior sound level on similar equipment powered by electricity or other power sources.

These have been developed to facilitate a clear understanding of the functional interrelations of the gearing, clutches, hydrodynamic drive unit, and other transmission components. Two variations of transmission diagrams are used: in neutral (clutches not applied) and in gear. For illustrative purposes, some typical transmissions are shown.

This document provides vehicle-level data collection, data analysis, and data verification procedures that may be used to verify that an instrument under test (IUT) satisfies the vehicle-level requirements specified in the SAE International (SAE) J2945/1 standard. For the purposes of this recommended practice, “vehicle-level requirements” primarily consist of those requirements which can be verified external to the vehicle. The IUT for these procedures is a configured dedicated short range communications (DSRC) vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) device as defined in SAE J2945/1 and is installed on a light vehicle. While the IUT is conceptually separated from the vehicle it is installed on, the tests outlined in this document are primarily vehicle-level so the terms “vehicle” and “IUT” can generally be considered interchangeable. Additionally, non-vehicle-level complementary tests, not included in this document, are required to verify that the entire set of requirements specified in SAE J2945/1

This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) defines the requirements for heavy-duty polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) lined, metallic reinforced, hose assemblies suitable for use in 400 °F, 3000 psi aircraft hydraulic systems. Assemblies are suitable where rapid rate pressure pulsing and torsional/ longitudinal flexing may occur, in addition to normal hydraulic system loads.

Consideration for the damaging effects to aircraft from the failure of wheels and tires should be evaluated. This document discusses the types of problems in-service aircraft have experienced and methodology in place to assist the designers when evaluating threats for new aircraft design. The purpose of this document is to provide a history of in-service problems, provide a historical summary of the design improvements made to wheels and tires during the past 40 years, and to offer methodology which has been used to help designers assess the threat to ensure the functionality of systems and equipment located in and around the landing gear and in wheel wells.

XRF technique for counterfeit detection is applicable to electrical, electronic and electromechanical (EEE) parts as listed in AS6171 General Requirements. In general, the detection technique is meant for use on piece parts prior to assembly on a circuit board or on the parts that are removed from a circuit board. The applicability spans a large swath of active, passive and electromechanical parts. If AS6171/3 is invoked in the contract, the base document, AS6171 General Requirements shall also apply.
