This supplement forms a part of SAE Aerospace Specification AS85421. It shall be used to identify fitting standards citing this procurement specification.
This SAE Standard covers a single Un-Jacketed (UTP) and Jacketed (J-UTP) Balanced Unshielded Twisted Pair data cable intended for use in surface vehicle cables for 10 Mb/s Ethernet shared bus applications. The tests in this document are intended to qualify cables for normal operation in an automotive environment while maintaining the necessary electrical properties for reliable data transmission.
This specification defines the requirements for a grooved clamp coupling and flanges suitable for joining intermediate pressure and temperature ducting in aircraft air systems. The rigid coupling joint assembly, hereafter referred to as "the joint", shall operate within the temperature range of -65 °F to +800 °F.
This SAE Surface Vehicle Recommended Practice deals with electrostatic charge phenomena that may occur in automotive fuel systems and applies to the following: Fuels that are in a liquid state at ambient temperatures and atmospheric pressures and are contained in vehicle fuel tanks that operate at or near atmospheric pressure. This includes gasoline and diesel fuels, as well as their blends with additives such as alcohols, esters, and ethers, whether the additives are petroleum based or bio-fuel based. The group of components that comprise the fuel system (in contact and not in contact with fuels). Other components in proximity to the fuel system that may be affected by electrostatic fields caused by the fuel system. Electrostatic phenomena that arise from, or are affected by, the following aspects of vehicle or fuel system operation: Flowing fuel in the fuel delivery system. Flowing fuel being dispensed to the vehicle while it is being fueled.
This life test for underhood/passenger/trunk connector systems may be used in place of Section 5.9.6, Connection System Electrical Table of SAE/USCAR-2. All other requirements of SAE/USCAR-2 remain applicable even when this test is used. Refer to SAE/USCAR-2 and Connector/Terminal Supplier for appropriate power rating and current cycle Testing.
This specification covers coated round rods manufactured by the pultrusion process from glass fiber roving and a weather-resistant polyester resin binder in the form of straight lengths or in coils.
This specification covers a low-carbon steel in the form of bars and wire 0.750 inch (19.05 mm) and under in nominal diameter or distance between parallel sides.
This specification covers chrome-molybdenum (4130) steel bars and forging stock of aircraft quality.
This specification covers a synthetic rubber sealing compound which is electrically conductive when used in a faying surface, contains corrosion inhibitors, and supplied as a two-component system which cures at room temperature, suitable for application by extrusion gun or spatula.
This document establishes general design criteria, tolerances, and limits of application for tooling, fixtures, and accessories for mounting and driving gas turbine engine rotors on horizontal and vertical balancing machines.
This specification covers the specific requirements for aluminum alloy 6061 bar, rod, shapes, tube, and wire produced by extrusion.
This SAE Recommended Practice specifies the design and/or evaluation with the specific equipment, conditions, and methods for distributorless battery ignition systems intended for use in various internal combustion engines including automotive, marine, motorcycle, and utility engine applications. The test procedures listed in this document are limited to measurements performed on a test bench only and do not include measurements made directly on engines or vehicles. This standard is not intended to supply information for battery ignition systems used in aircraft applications of any type.
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) provides a description of a screening method for use in the field for verifying an AMS 1428 anti-icing fluid is above its minimum low shear viscosity as published with holdover time guidelines. The test will determine if the fluid is (a) satisfactory, (b) unsatisfactory, or (c) borderline needing more advanced viscometry testing. Other field tests may be required to determine if an anti-icing fluid is useable, such as refractive index, appearance or other tests as may be recommended by the fluid manufacturer.
SCOPE IS UNAVAILABLE.
This SAE Aerospace Standard covers high strength commercial sockets and universal sockets which possess the strength, clearances, and internal wrenching design so configured that, when mated with hexagon (6 point) fasteners, they shall transmit torque to the fastener without bearing on the outer 5% of the fastener’s wrenching points. This document provides additional requirements beyond ANSI B107.5 appropriate for aerospace use. Inclusion of dimensional data in this document is not intended to imply all of the products described therein are stock production sizes. Consumers are requested to consult with manufacturers concerning lists of stock production sizes.
Limited to the commercial aerospace industry where a request is made for a PO to have Direct Delivery Authorization (DDA), which includes an Appropriate Arrangement (AA) between the PO and the Design Organization (DO). In this process the DO is responsible for ensuring the continuous updating of design and airworthiness data to the PO, whilst the PO is responsible for assurance that the manufactured article conforms to approved design and airworthiness data. The PO is responsible to provide airworthiness release documentation.
These general guidelines and precautions apply to personnel operating directional drilling tracking equipment when used with horizontal directional drilling (HDD) machines as defined in ISO 21467:2023.
This SAE Standard provides testing and functional requirements to meet specified minimum performance criteria for electronic probe-type leak detectors. The equipment specified here will identify smaller refrigerant leaks when servicing motor vehicle air conditioning systems, including those engineered with improved sealing and smaller refrigerant charges to address environmental concerns and increase system efficiency. This document does not address any safety issues concerning the equipment design or use beyond that of sampling a flammable refrigerant, save those described in 3.1 and 3.2 of this document. All requirements of this standard shall be verified in SAE J2911.
This standard includes ISO 9001:20152 quality management system requirements and specifies additional aviation, space, and defense industry requirements, definitions, and notes. It is emphasized that the requirements specified in this standard are complementary (not alternative) to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. If there is a conflict between the requirements of this standard and customer or applicable statutory or regulatory requirements, the latter shall take precedence. This International Standard specifies requirements for a quality management system when an organization: a needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and b aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory
This specification covers a corrosion-resistant nickel-copper alloy in the form of seamless tubing.
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) is intended to be used for laser systems mounted on aircraft and propagated into navigable airspace. This does not include lasers onboard aircraft where the beam is contained within an enclosure so that the beam cannot enter into airspace, nor does it include lasers from satellites and spacecraft in outer space. It may be used in conjunction with AS4970, ARP5535, ARP5572, ARP5293, and the ANSI Z136 laser safety standards.
This SAE Recommended Practice describes the test procedure for conducting a rollover test using a dolly fixture designed to laterally trip a vehicle into a roll. Its purpose is to establish a recommended test procedure which will standardize the procedure between different test facilities. A description of the test procedure, test instrumentation, photographic/video coverage, and the rollover fixture is included.
