These additional tests can provide informational data for characterizing the coatings and may be useful to operators when evaluating the coatings.

This document describes the major design drivers and considerations when designing a fuel system for a large commercial aircraft. While not intended as a design manual for individual system components, it does refer out to other SAE specifications where more detail on specific components and subsystems is given. It does include examples of a number of calculations associated with sizing of fuel systems, based on those given in NAVAIR 06-5-504, as well as an appendix summarizing basic fluid mechanical equations that are key for fuel system design. It is acknowledged that most of these calculations would today be performed by modeling tools rather than by hand, but it is considered important for the designer to understand the principles. Some details specific to military aircraft are included, but it is intended that later issues of this document will include appendices that give specific considerations for military aircraft, smaller commercial aircraft, and rotorcraft. This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) is intended to be used for laser systems mounted on aircraft and propagated into navigable airspace. The default method (Section 4 of the document) is intended for use by electronic equipment manufacturers, repair facilities, or programs which, for a variety of reasons, may be unable to develop methods specific to their own products and applications. It is to be used when little or no other information is available to define, conduct, and interpret results from reliability, qualification, or other tests for electronic equipment containing Pb-free solder. A-6C5 Components Committee
SAE J2534-1 defines a standard vehicle network interface that can be used to reprogram emission-related control modules. However, there is a need to support vehicles prior to the 2004 model year, as well as non-emission related control modules. The SAE J2534-2 document meets these needs by detailing extensions to API version 04.04 of the SAE J2534-1 specification. It is not required for an interface to be fully compliant with API version 04.04 of the SAE J2534-1 specification to implement some of the features specified in this document. Together, these extensions provide the framework for a common interface to protect the software investment of the vehicle OEMs and scan tool manufacturers. Only the optional features will be described by this document and are based on the December 2004 publication of SAE J2534-1.
