This test method provides a procedure for measuring no-load rotational breakaway torque of self-lubricating spherical bearings.
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) describes procedures for use in the field to determine if 115/200 Volt, 400 Hz aircraft external electrical power connectors are excessively worn, which may result in the inability of the external power plug to be retained, intermittent electrical performance, and arcing.
This SAE Information Report establishes a uniform procedure for assuring the manufactured quality, installed utility, and performance of automotive remote steering controls other than those provided by the vehicle manufacturer (OEM). These products are intended to provide driving capability to persons with physical disabilities. The adaptive modifications seek to compensate for lost or reduced function in the extremities of the driver with a disability. Remote steering controls are designed to provide a steering input device alternative to the OEM steering wheel that either reduces the required input force, changes the required range of motion or changes the location of the steering control, or any combination of the above. These controls supplement by power, other than by the driver’s own muscular efforts, the force output of the driver with a disability. Because this is an Information Report, the numerical values for performance measurements presented in this report and in the
The primary objective of this recommended practice is to confirm that vehicles can communicate a minimum set of information in accordance with diagnostic test services specified in SAE J1979-2, or the equivalent ISO 14229-1:2013 (Ed. 2) and SAE J1979-3 documents. A successful result using the SAE J1699-5 Automotive Alliance for Innovation (AAI) software for OBD-II testing indicates that the main aspects of UDS communication have been examined, but it does not provide assurance of complete compliance with all aspects of SAE J1979-2 or SAE J1979-3. SAE J1699-5 tests run with a SAE J2534 device hardware and API that is not fully compliant will result in a test failure. This specification takes precedence over all conflicts in the documents cited in this section.
This SAE Information Report provides SAE’s recommendations for meeting the requirements for Real Emissions Assessment Logging (REAL) oxides of nitrogen (NOx) accuracy demonstration and for the implementation of REAL NOx binning requirements as defined in onboard diagnostics (OBD) regulations 13 CCR 1971.1 and 13 CCR 1968.2.

This Purchasing Specification, AMS6885/4, specifies the batch release and delivery requirements for film adhesive used for repair. This specification is applicable only when the film adhesive is used as part of the repair system defined in AMS6885 and AMS6885/1. This specification also defines the procedure and requirements for storage life extension of materials purchased against this specification. It is only applicable for materials qualified against AMS6885 (refer to PRI-QPL-AMS6885), and shall be carried out within the responsibility of the purchaser and under control of its Quality organisation.
This specification covers ground type hydropneumatic pressure accumulators for use in ground support hydraulic systems at rated pressures ranging up to 5,000 psi including details pertinent to the design, fabrication, and performance of the accumulators.
This specification covers several grades of virgin polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resin which may be compounded with pigment and fillers in the form of extruded or molded rods or tubes which are sintered after molding or, in the case of extrusions, sintered during the extrusion process.
This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of plate 0.250 to 3.000 inch (6.35 to 76.20 mm) inclusive, in nominal thickness (see 8.7).
SAE J1939-2 specifies the requirements for application of SAE J1939 in agricultural and forestry equipment. This document specifies the series of documents within the set of SAE J1939 documents that are applicable to agricultural and forestry equipment and provides further requirements for this industry. The SAE and ISO groups have cooperated to define agricultural and forestry networks in a manner to allow compatibility of ECUs and messaging protocols between the A&F and the T&B networks.
This specification covers a 100% homopolymer of polychlorotrifluoroethylene, (PCTFE) in the form of thin wall tubing.
This SAE recommended practice defines the system and component functions, measurement metrics, testing methodologies for evaluating the functionality and performance of tire pressure systems, and recommended maintenance practices within the known operating environments. This document is applicable to all axle and all wheel combinations for single unit powered vehicles exceeding 7257 kg (16 000 US lb) gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), and multi-unit vehicle combinations, up to three (3) towed units, which use an SAE J560 connector for power and/or communication, or equivalent successor connector technology, or which use a suitable capacity wireless solution. Examples of included single chassis vehicles would be – utility and delivery vans, tow trucks, rack trucks, buses, recreational vehicles, fuel trucks, trash trucks, dump trucks, cement trucks, and tractors. Examples of combination vehicles using an SAE J560 or successor connector would be – enclosed van trailers, liquid tanker
This SAE Recommended Practice provides a method to determine the performance characteristics of the hydraulic oil pumps used in automatic transmissions and automatic transaxles. This document outlines the specific tests that describe the performance characteristics of these pumps over a range of operating conditions and the means to present the test data. This document is not intended to assess pump durability.
This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extruded bars, rods, wire, profiles, and tubing produced with cross-sectional area of 32 square inches (206 cm2), maximum (see 8.6).
This SAE standard establishes the requirement for suppliers to plan a reliability program that satisfies the following three requirements: a The supplier shall ascertain customer requirements b The supplier shall meet customer requirements c The supplier shall assure that customer requirements have been met
This SAE Aerospace Recommend Practice (ARP) is intended to identify both safety related best practices and unique design considerations of metal halides High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps and power supplies in aircraft applications.
The purpose of this SAE Recommended Practice is to establish test procedures and minimum performance standards for kingpins and their supporting structure manufactured to SAE specifications. The dimensions shown in SAE J700 will permit the establishment of standard clearances in the installed condition which, in turn, will permit fifth wheel manufacturers to design their products to establish interchangeability with any kingpin made and installed to the SAE specification.
