The primary objective of this recommended practice is to confirm that vehicles can communicate a minimum set of information in accordance with diagnostic test services specified in SAE J1979-2, or the equivalent ISO 14229-1:2013 (Ed. 2) and SAE J1979-3 documents. A successful result using the SAE J1699-5 Automotive Alliance for Innovation (AAI) software for OBD-II testing indicates that the main aspects of UDS communication have been examined, but it does not provide assurance of complete compliance with all aspects of SAE J1979-2 or SAE J1979-3. SAE J1699-5 tests run with a SAE J2534 device hardware and API that is not fully compliant will result in a test failure. This specification takes precedence over all conflicts in the documents cited in this section.

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) describes procedures for use in the field to determine if 115/200 Volt, 400 Hz aircraft external electrical power connectors are excessively worn, which may result in the inability of the external power plug to be retained, intermittent electrical performance, and arcing.
AGE-3 Aircraft Ground Support Equipment Committee
This SAE Information Report establishes a uniform procedure for assuring the manufactured quality, installed utility, and performance of automotive remote steering controls other than those provided by the vehicle manufacturer (OEM). These products are intended to provide driving capability to persons with physical disabilities. The adaptive modifications seek to compensate for lost or reduced function in the extremities of the driver with a disability. Remote steering controls are designed to provide a steering input device alternative to the OEM steering wheel that either reduces the required input force, changes the required range of motion or changes the location of the steering control, or any combination of the above. These controls supplement by power, other than by the driver’s own muscular efforts, the force output of the driver with a disability. Because this is an Information Report, the numerical values for performance measurements presented in this report and in the

This specification covers a corrosion- and heat-resistant nickel alloy in the form of plate nominally 2.00 inches (50.8 mm) and under in thickness, inclusive.
AMS F Corrosion and Heat Resistant Alloys Committee
This SAE Recommended Practice defines key terms used in the description and analysis of video based driver eye glance behavior, as well as guidance in the analysis of that data. The information provided in this practiced is intended to provide consistency for terms, definitions, and analysis techniques. This practice is to be used in laboratory, driving simulator, and on-road evaluations of how people drive, with particular emphasis on evaluating Driver Vehicle Interfaces (DVIs; e.g., in-vehicle multimedia systems, controls and displays). In terms of how such data are reduced, this version only concerns manual video-based techniques. However, even in its current form, the practice should be useful for describing the performance of automated sensors (eye trackers) and automated reduction (computer vision).

The following schematic diagrams reflect various methods of illustrating automotive transmission arrangements. These have been developed to facilitate a clear understanding of the functional interrelations of the gearing, clutches, hydrodynamic drive unit, and other transmission components. Two variations of transmission diagrams are used: in neutral (clutches not applied) and in gear. For illustrative purposes, some typical transmissions are shown.

SAE J1939-81 (“Network Management”) defines the processes and messages associated with managing the addresses of applications communicating on an SAE J1939 network. Network management is concerned with the management of addresses and the association of those addresses with an actual function and with the detection and reporting of network related errors. Due to the nature of management of addresses, network management also specifies address selection and address claiming processes, requirements for reaction to brief power outages, and minimum requirements for ECUs on the network.

SAE J1939-82 compliance describes the compliance tests and procedures to verify an SAE J1939 electronic control unit (ECU) operates correctly on a SAE J1939 network. The purpose of these compliance procedures is to generate one or more test documents that outline the tests needed to assure that an ECU that is designed to operate as a node on a SAE J1939 network would do so correctly. SAE does not certify devices and these tests and their results do not constitute endorsement by SAE of any particular ECU. These tests are presented to allow testing of an ECU to determine self-compliance by the manufacturer of an ECU. The manufacturer can use its record of what procedures were run successfully to show the level of compliance with SAE J1939.

This document establishes techniques for validating that an Aircraft Station Interface (ASI) complies with the interface requirements delineated in MIL-STD-1760C. For validation of aircraft designed to MIL-STD-1760A Notice 2 AS4764 Issued 1995-04 applies. For validation of aircraft designed to MIL-STD-1760B Notice 3 AS47641 Issued 1999-08 applies.
AS-1B Aircraft Store Integration Committee
This document describes a physical layer utilizing Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cable with extended stub lengths for flexibility in ECU placement and network topology. Also, connectors are not specified. CAN controllers used on SAE J1939-15 networks must be restricted to use only Classical Frames as defined in ISO 11898- 1. A network which may have legacy controllers cannot tolerate FD Frames. These SAE Recommended Practices are intended for light- and heavy-duty vehicles on- or off-road as well as appropriate stationary applications which use vehicle derived components (e.g., generator sets). Vehicles of interest include, but are not limited to: on- and off-highway trucks and their trailers; construction equipment; and agricultural equipment and implements.
Truck and Bus Control and Communications Network Committee
This top-level document provides a general overview of the SAE J1939 network and describes the subordinate document structure. This document includes definitions of terms and abbreviations which are used among the various SAE J1939 subordinate documents.

AMS D Nonferrous Alloys Committee
The proposed Digital Mesh/Fabric concept builds upon the Digital Thread Framework (refer to AIR7161) by representing the interconnection of multiple digital threads across multiple data stores, logical organizing segments, and product life-cycle stages. Unlike a single digital thread, which follows a linear or sequential flow of data utilization through a product life cycle, the Digital Mesh/Fabric forms a complex mesh of n-dimensional interconnected digital threads, allowing for greater value creation, flexibility in data utilization, scalability, and integration.
