This SAE Standard establishes the test procedure, environment, and instrumentation for determining the sound levels of snowmobiles in the stationary test mode. This test method is intended to provide an accurate measurement of exhaust and other engine noise and may be used to evaluate new and in-use snowmobiles to determine compliance with noise control regulations. Sound level measurements obtained with this test method are not intended as an engineering determination of overall machine noise. For this purpose, the use of SAE J192 is recommended.

The information provided in this practiced is intended to provide consistency for terms, definitions, and analysis techniques. This practice is to be used in laboratory, driving simulator, and on-road evaluations of how people drive, with particular emphasis on evaluating Driver Vehicle Interfaces (DVIs; e.g., in-vehicle multimedia systems, controls and displays). In terms of how such data are reduced, this version only concerns manual video-based techniques. However, even in its current form, the practice should be useful for describing the performance of automated sensors (eye trackers) and automated reduction (computer vision).

This SAE Standard gives methods for testing and evaluating performance of the SAE 100R series of hydraulic hose and hose assemblies (hose and attached end fittings) used in hydraulic fluid power systems. This document further establishes a uniform means of testing and evaluating performance of hydraulic hose assemblies.

This document points to a standard ASTM test method utilized by land vehicle manufacturers and others to provide the electrical resistance of a tire. It is desired that this ASTM test method is also used with aircraft tires. This method will assure that more accurate repeatable data is provided to those in the aerospace industry who request it.

This SAE Recommended Practice establishes the instrumentation and procedure to be used in measuring the maximum exterior sound level for engine powered equipment under 14.7 kW (20 bhp). It is intended to include equipment such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, tillers, etc. It is not intended to include equipment designed primarily for operation on highways or within factories and buildings, or vehicles such as motorcycles, snowmobiles, and pleasure motor boats that are covered by other SAE Standards or Recommended Practices. This SAE Recommended Practice may also be used when measuring the maximum exterior sound level on similar equipment powered by electricity or other power sources.

This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) describes the current process for performing comparative wear testing on aircraft tires in a laboratory environment. This technique is applicable to both radial and bias tires, and is pertinent for all aircraft tire sizes. This AIR describes a technique based upon “wear” energy. In this technique, side wear energy and drag wear energy are computed as the tire is run through a prescribed test program. The specifics that drive the test setup conditions are discussed in Sections 4 through 7. In general, the technique follows this process: A test profile is developed from measured mechanical property data of the tires under study. Each tire is repeatedly run to the test profile until it is worn to the maximum wear limit (MWL). Several tires, typically 5 to 10, of each tire design are tested. The purpose of this SAE Standard is to provide equipment specifications for CFC-12 (R-12) recovery for return to a refrigerant reclamation facility that will process it to the appropriate ARI Standard (Air Conditioning and Refrigerant Institute) or allow for recycling of the recovered refrigerant in equipment that is certified to meet the requirements of SAE J1991. Under the existing rule, the U.S. EPA requires refrigerant removed from a mobile air-conditioning (A/C) system using recovery equipment certified to meet SAE J2209 can only be recycled using equipment meeting SAE J1991 that is owned by the same company or individual. It is not acceptable that the refrigerant removed from a mobile A/C system, with this equipment, be directly returned to a mobile A/C system. This information applies to equipment used to service automobiles, light trucks, and other vehicles with similar CFC-12 (R-12) systems.

This report provides the process for developing a flexible test framework to support the creation of system-level cooperative driving automation (CDA) Feature test procedures, which are intended to be objective, repeatable, and transparent, and enable collaborative testing of the Feature. Utilizing a Feature’s functional and logical scenario details, it provides the building blocks necessary to develop cooperative automated driving system (C-ADS)-equipped vehicle (C-ADS-V) and CDA infrastructure (CDA-I) system diagrams, identify the interfaces to and from the systems, and identify the set of functional test support components specific to the CDA Feature. Utilizing these details, along with the Feature-specific concrete scenarios, a method for developing a test scope and system level use-case-focused test procedures is provided.

This SAE Recommended Practice provides minimum performance requirements and uniform laboratory procedures for fatigue testing of disc wheels, demountable rims, and bolt-together divided wheels intended for normal highway use on military trucks, buses, truck-trailers, and multipurpose vehicles. Users may establish design criteria exceeding the minimum performance requirement for added confidence in a design. For other (non-military) wheels and rims intended for normal highway use on trucks and buses, refer to SAE J267. For wheels intended for normal highway and temporary use on passenger cars, light trucks, and multipurpose vehicles, refer to SAE J328. For wheels used on trailers drawn by passenger cars, light trucks, or multipurpose vehicles, refer to SAE J1204. This document does not cover off-highway or other special application wheels and rims.

This SAE Recommended Practice establishes guidelines for the operation of automotive keyless ignition systems with the goal of helping to minimize user instigated errors. For the purpose of this Recommended Practice, user instigated errors may include: the inability to start and stop the vehicle propulsion system, exiting the vehicle with the automatic transmission in a non-parking gear, exiting the vehicle while the vehicle propulsion system is enabled, exiting the vehicle while the vehicle propulsion system is disabled, but the accessory or electrical systems are active. To help minimize these errors, this Recommended Practice contains design recommendations pertaining to uniform labeling, operating logic, indication of vehicle ignition/control status, and physical control characteristics of keyless ignition systems.
