- Dr. Thomas W. Ryan III, USA
Ryan received his master’s and doctorate, and then served as an Assistant Professor, at Pennsylvania State University until he began his career at Southwest Research Institute in 1979. Over the past 35 years, Ryan has specialized in the areas of engine, fuels, and combustion technology. He has performed both basic and applied combustion research in experiments involving very basic combustion processes and sophisticated diagnostics to actual internal combustion engine systems. Much of his work has involved the application of the appropriate diagnostic techniques in experiments involving both real and simulated combustion environments. Ryan is the 2008 President of SAE International.- Dr. Gabriele Di Blasio, STEMS Institute of the National Research Council (CNR), Italy
Di Blasio holds both master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Naples Federico II. With nearly 20 years of experience, he began his professional career as a research engineer in industry before joining the National Research Council of Italy. His research has long focused on combustion, alternative fuels, and engine optimization. In response to the evolving needs of the energy transition, his work has expanded to a systems-level approach, integrating advanced propulsion technologies with low- and zero-carbon fuels, using both experimental and simulation diagnostic tools. He actively collaborates with industry and academia and is a committed member of the SAE community, serving on the boards of SAE journals and committees.
