The present study regards the realisation in the Jack© environment of a customised tool which allows to evaluate the external visibility performances of different vehicle geometries during critical driving tasks.
For each driving task selected the same scenario with moving agents was created both in Jack© environment and in Virtual Reality (VR) environment.
A group of subjects drove a set of vehicles with different geometries in a VR simulator and subjective and objective data were collected. The data allowed to transfer to the Jack© mannequin the real behavior of the subjects as recorded in the simulator and the tool for the evaluation of the external visibility was created in the Jack© environment.
The car manufacturer FIAT AUTO, that financed the work, uses the tool during the development of new vehicle models.
