Velocity Type Water Column Air Gage and Its Application in Auto Works Production

The velocity type water column air gage is quite different from conventional pressure type and flow type air gage. The key part of the new air gage, being neither a Laval nor a Venturi tube, is a unique small cylindrical nozzle. This nozzle is capable of combining the performances of big volume flow and low pressure indication. Therefore the air flow can clean the surface to be measured, and the water column gage gives highly sensitive readings.

The paper describes briefly the working principle and features of the new gage and presents examples of application of the new gage in auto works production, including contact type elastic pivot snap gage, ball type plug gage, locating gage, and thickness gage of bearing bushing.
