Vehicle Controller Instrumentation Systems

This paper describes instrumentation techniques that can be utilized to aid in the development of vehicle electronic control algorithms. Digital, analog, and other output format options are reviewed. Instrumentation concepts that allow data acquisition nearly transparent to normal vehicle controller operation are considered. Data processing and I/O techniques that result in user friendly system operation by current test practitioners are discussed.
