- The accuracy of a vehicular collision reconstruction and the ability to communicate the results of the reconstruction can both be enhanced by employing a computer graphic animation. Static computer displays are useful in preparing hard copy exhibits in addition to serving as a foundation for dynamic displays. Animations are produced by first defining a set of key frames, then interpolating between key frames, and finally adding a proper time/motion relationship based on vehicle dynamic considerations. This paper discusses a procedure for developing computer-based animations in vehicular collision reconstruction. A series of cases is then presented in order to illustrate the techniques that are discussed.
