Abstract
Content

The development of the V-22 structural dynamics finite element analysis model is described in relation to the preliminary and detail design phases of the V-22 full scale development. The influence of the dynamics requirements is described, as are the types of models used at various stages of the design. Weight trade-offs, parametric stiffness tailoring, and modeling improvements based on development tests are also discussed. The evolution of the analytical model from a simple elastic line idealization to a highly detailed MSC/NASTRAN SuperElement model is traced, and the organization and management of the model is described.
