- Titanium alloys are classified into four main groups: commercial purity alloys, alpha, beta and alpha-beta. In the manufacture of aircraft structures, including the new Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 that will have large amounts of titanium in its structure, the Ti 6Al4V is responsible for the vast majority of applications and the beta alloys used in components and in particular military aircraft. This paper will present the reasons why the current situation and future prospects are not much different in the types of alloys, but advances in the manufacturing process (including metallurgical processes of titanium alloys and manufacturing of finished parts) can expand the use of alloys titanium aircraft structures in future
