Authors Abstract
Content
One of the main thrusts of development when it comes to exhaust systems with integrated Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology lies in the area of urea processing in front of the SCR catalytic converter. In contrast to conventional exhaust systems with single-phase gas flow, the complex processes in this area call both for new development methods and new components in the exhaust system. Due to the need of homogeneous urea distribution in front of the SCR catalyst to improve the NOx reduction inside the SCR catalyst the usage of convenient mixing devices is mandatory in the majority of cases. Eberspächer has developed various mixers which can significantly enhance the preparation of urea, shorten the necessary mixing section and in some cases make possible the constructive use of SCR technology in actual platforms.
