- There are two major types of problem within the manual transmission system:
-
(i)
Gear rattle. The current: solutions are either in the form of spring centre drive plates or twin mass sprung flywheels, both of which suffer from inherent frequency response problems due to their fixed spring torsion rate.
-
(ii)
Requirements of increased clutch system life when coupled with extended warranty periods and increased power in confined installations.
This paper outlines the technical advances achieved for a unique combination of products which mark a revolution within the clutch system. The products consist of a speed sensitive twin mass flywheel which has been designed on the centrifugal link type coupling principle together with a bonded driven plate which utilizes a special elastomer. -
