The Transpirator-Cooler - A Space-Cooling-System

Transpirators are light and efficient evaporative coolers which we proposed /1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6/.Till now they were constructed with commercially available materials.

We determined the cooling capacity of Transpirator-elements and of a Transpirator-cooler, equipped with nine elements.

Advantages of the Transpirators are:

• No loss of evaporating coolant in liquid or solid state
• Low weight and low volume
• Good adaptability to heat rejection at different temperature levels
• Modular structure, and therefore numerous possibilities of configuration and of subdivision into independent subunits
