Authors Abstract
Content
This report covers the structural features of the 10A engine, which is a production type, 2 rotor, rotary engine designed for automotive use. Among the studies carried out, particular attention was given to problems concerning cracking of the rotor housing, attributable to thermal fatigue. Measures taken to solve this problem are described. Other investigations were directed toward trial application of a die-cast rotor housing with thin chromium plating applied by the transplant coating process; measurements taken of flame propagation within the combustion chamber by using ion gap plugs; and reduction of HC emission by adoption of air injection with a thermal reactor.
