Authors Abstract
Content
The world's automobile industry is by no means a fully mature industry lacking in innovation. Progress is being made in automotive engineering daily with the introduction of numerous technical innovations.
Rapid technological change increases risk, but the potential gains from growth are enormous. And it is the responsibility of automotive engineers to promote change by achieving the coexistence of competition and co-operation.
Non-car users make up the majority of the world's population. A major goal for automotive engineers is, therefore, to co-operate in bringing the automobile within the reach of the bulk of the world's population.
Our ancestors developed various modes of transportation, and the mobility they provided brought prosperity through global cultural exchanges and technology transfers.
It is my firm belief that our primary task as automotive engineers is to ensure "prosperity" brings with it qualitative improvements in people's lives
