This paper presents the theoretic and experimental results obtained in the determination of stress intensity factor and residual strength diagram of reinforced panels of a pressurized fuselage.
It was obtained a good correlation between the theoretic and experimental values of the stress intensity factor. The practice shows that the engineer will encounter not few dificulties to determine the stress intensity factor in structures or components with flaws. In this case the computer program DTD (Damage Tolerance Design) shown to be a fast and efficient calculus tool for the avaliation of such parameter.
It is also showed the efficiency of the use of crack stopper. This elements to make feasible the arrest of crack after the instability.
