T700 Growth Through Technology Insertion

The first T700 engine was produced over twenty years ago. The latest growth versions of the T700, the CT7-8 and T700/T6E are currently undergoing certification/qualification testing, with production scheduled to begin in 2001. This paper contrasts the technology level of the original T700 with that of the new growth models, and how this has enabled a 55% power increase. It also describes how field experience, especially with CT7 turboprop engines, has contributed to this development.
