Systems Engineering Evolution in Rotorcraft Industry

To envision the future it behooves us to have an appreciation of our past. In this paper a historical perspective of key rotorcraft development and production programs and the Systems Engineering (SE) approach used are discussed. The information presented in this paper supports the American Helicopter Society (AHS) "technology generation" initiative while stimulating a discourse regarding the application of SE to support future rotorcraft development.
