Authors Abstract
Content
Navy operational requirements usually do not allow for the optimization of equipment performance. This coupled with the lack of system integration has only furthered an efficient condition.
This paper will discuss one option in achieving system integration via the marine qualified NETWORK 90 microprocessor distributed control system. Presentation of system features and benefits will be done in context of specific operational problems and requirements of gas turbine and diesel propulsion plants.
In conclusion/the implementation of integrated systems will not only improve fuel performance and utilization, but also relieve manpower for more critical functions, reduce maintenance time, and allow enhanced mission accomplishment.
