Summary of a Large Scale Procurement of Compressed Natural Gas Buses and Integration into an Existing Diesel Fleet

This paper reviews the process for the procurement of 294 heavy duty compressed natural gas (CNG) buses as well as the logistics and infrastructure required to support their integration into an existing diesel operation. The assessment of requirements, economic analysis, component description as well as a description of the modifications required for fueling facilities and maintenance facilities is discussed in detail. Training requirements and the curriculum used for specific tasks are reviewed.
