Successful Development of the Eaton® Fuller® EconoShift™ Transmission for the Trucking Industry

The Eaton® Fuller® EconoShift™ transmission is designed for high mileage fleets wanting fuel efficient operation and improvement in driver comfort combined with proven reliability. Starting with early development of concept vehicles and “voice of the customer” analysis--through QFD project management, simultaneous engineering, product specifications, FMECA and other design and development tools--to test plans and service diagnostics--the EconoShift transmission successfully meets the customers' expectations. These important design and development steps as well as the technical features of the product are discussed.
