Abstract
Content

In order to improve the operation safety of helicopter, the BlAde-Tip proximity warning Laser System (BATLS) is proposed. The basic components, principles and workflow of the BATLS are introduced. Focus on the discussion of the impact of the angles of blade and fuselage on the performance of BATLS, and the compensation method of installation angle and the correction factor are both put forward. The final relative error in the relative height detection is less than 1% in the full flight envelop of Bell 206 as example. The BATLS is low weight, low power consumption, wide range of detection, flexible place in installation, and high reliability, having wide prospect in application of improving the situational awareness of helicopter not only in take-off and landing state but also in complex terrain flight.
