Abstract
Content

The characteristic differences between data obtained from an engineering analysis and from a dynamic test are discussed. These effects are shown to be important and impose limitations on attempts to use test data to improve analysis models. A summary of two classes of methods for this process of system identification are referenced and the strengths and weakness of each are defined.
