Authors Abstract
Content
This is the story of a community called Chelsea and of an organization called Chelsea Against the STOLport which led a successful fight to keep a STOLport out of its densely populated, highly residential central area in New York City.
Our policy statement, to which we have always adhered, is self-explanatory.
Chelsea Against the STOLport is a publicly supported community organization opposed to the building of a STOLport in residential areas in center cities. It is for an objective study of the transportation needs of the Northeast Corridor conducted by ecologists, urbanologists and environmental psychologists as well as technologists, taking into account the total effect of such installations on people as well as environment.
