- The Stellantis North America Aero-Acoustic Wind Tunnel (AAWT), which came into operation in June of 2002, has undergone the significant upgrade of installing a state-of-the-art moving ground plane system. A 5-belt Moving Ground Plane (MGP) has been installed. The center belt measures 8.5m long by 1.1m wide. The new balance is capable of testing all of the Stellantis North America’s vehicles, from small cars to large pickup trucks. Flow quality and other wind tunnel performance parameters were unchanged and remain at previously published specifications, which are on par with the latest industry standards. The new 5-belt rolling road system brings the AAWT to world class capability and it became operational in October 2024.
